Carolina is a great home team

Rangers won a game 7 in that arena last spring, won 6-2 on February 11th, and 2-1 on March 23rd

man they just keep getting lucky

- jimbro83

I rather play the canes then the devils in the playoffs.

Agreed but probably have to play both regardless.

lol you can say this about every team when they win a game. Colorado is lucky they have Nate Mcd, Makar and so on to win the cup. They are great at their jobs.

I mean I'm not a fan of the Avalanche like I am the Rangers. But forwards and defensemen can actively try to score and make plays in the offensive zone to counter whatever deficiencies they have in their own zone. Goalies can' do that. Relying on your goalie to be super human more often than not is a strategy for long term success. No matter how great the goalie is.

I am happy that Shesterkin has regained his vezina form from last year.

Carolina is a great team. Period.

They suffocate their opponents and shoot from literally everywhere. But they lack top end skill.

The NYR are a great team. We have the top end skill at every position which allows us to compete with anyone.

That game was fantastic to watch. Felt like a playoff game. Aside from a slow first, I thought the Rangers played well.

Either team can beat the other on any given night. We capitalized on our chances and blanked them on theirs. If you consider that luck, you don't know shyt about hockey and look to much at analytics

What impressed me about last night is after the failed 5 on 3 I thought that was the game (figuring a blow out). They held on til the surge ended and eventually tied it. Then the rangers were the better team after the Panarin goal. Again, cup contenders pull out wins like that

So Fox and Panarin didn't actively score goals and make plays in the offensive zone? ON TOP of the Vezina caliber goaltending we got. It's almost like we have more elite talent than CAR and made the most of our scoring chances. Crazy thought.

Rangers are a quick strike team, canes bleed you to death trying to score, and eventually bleed themselves trying so hard.

How was MSG?!

You missed a good one. Lot of action both ways. Fast and physical game. Lindgren was a last minute scratch. I really hope they just let him rest for the remainder of the regular season. If he feels he needs to get into a rhythm, play him the last three games or so. He is going to be needed for a deep run.

They had 12 scoring chances and 3 high danger chances in the first period. As opposed to zero for the Rangers. You can be happy the Rangers won. But you also have to admit playing like that and winning is lucky.
- tomburton99

Better lucky than good. Not really. But I think everyone knows they were fortunate to be down just 1-0 after the first period. On the flip side, they basically shut down Carolina in the third period

The Rangers are just built in exactly the opposite way of the Hurricanes. They're practically designed to be good at exactly the things the Canes aren't.

Killing that 5 on 3 gave them a ton of momentum, and it lasted into the second period. The Rangers did a lot of impressive things last night. But we’re shunned talking about it because of, you know, puck possession

Those two, yes. As whole unit, they don't seem to do it well given the stats.

Which is also true. The played better in the 3rd period. They engaged Carolina physically and limited their shots/scoring chances. Some questionable decisions, sure. But that is every game.
