thought that was about Sanheim, actually he said that about SAnheim last night, either way, it was said as a positive, Torts knows there is more and his job is to get it, that is not a bad thing and bodes well for the future. I dont believe how you said it matches how Torts is saying it. - wcorvette
Frost is in his first full NHL season. Of course one would be looking for more in the future. Otherwise expectations would be unreasonable.

Well Torts did not say Frost should carry Tippet's water bottle, that is for sure. :-) However I have not said all bad things about Frost, and have stated repeatedly Frost has improved as the year has gone along. Others have maintained that Frost has played the same exact way throughout the year and that its the archaic head coach that has held Frost back. Its this narrative that I verhmently disagree with. At the start of the season Frost was playing where he should have been playing, and now he is earning his ice time as it should be. Still Torts was hesitant and said he wants to see more. - jd250
we all have our opinions and interpretations, Torts see's the high end skill and wants more of it, exactly what he should want out of a first year player who is making progress. He also mentioned being fair to Frost, that there were other players who he wants here that are not consistent, maybe you skipped that?

Until he got off the 3rd and 4th lines and started getting 1st line minutes like Cates. - MBFlyerfan
And played with g?
And his production was what?
Where does it fit?
What did it lead to?
Also side note coots was a top end pick.
Cates wasn’t
The ceiling for coots was always supposed to be higher no?
What’s the value compared to players around the league?
Or cup contending teams?
So do you give out contract and slot placement to coots?
Or cates?
Or whoever?
Isn’t that the building of a team?
Basically what I’m saying is cates compared to league does absolutely nothing for this team. Not now anyways or in any real timeline. And certainly not as a key piece.
Not saying at all he’s useless or anything like that but the focus should be on strictly rebuild for far our future.
Getting bedard does move up this process. As any true generational talent does. But highly unlikely |

You said the same thing last year under Yeo and you were proven to be incorrect when Frost was put with better linemates in better spots. He produced. Same thing happened this year when that archaic coach did the same thing in the beginning of the season and failed to learn from the information from the previous season. You make the statement that Frost was playing where he should have but offer zero evidence or reasoning to support that. You also have a long history of completely mischaracterizing statements made by coaches including Tortorella. There is no narrative. Only facts that you refuse to recognize. |

You don't think the Flyers 1st this year and next year, along with Provey and a prospect wouldn't be enough? You may be right though ... - jd250

Yes that is why I said almost. Torts did not mention the AHL player part, nor did he mention Frost carrying Tippet's water bottle which greatly disappointed me :-) - jd250
Doubtful that it was almost or anything remotely close.

Its great to see the development of the Flyers' young players and as a fan I am really excited about next year already to see Tippet, Foerster and others taking the next steps. However I still feel that even with the potential ceiling of this young and developing core, its not enough to get this franchise out of mediocrity; the Flyers need a real top end talented player. I expect the Flyers will win more games down the stretch here and thus will probably not be picking in the top 5 unless they get huge luck in the lottery. With that said, serious question, do you think the Flyers should trade up into the top 3 to get either Fantilli or Carlsson, or should stand pat. I still believe the Flyers should be aggressive at the draft and try to trade into the 3 to get the best chance to get one of the top 3 centers in this draft. - jd250
them and 27 other teams will be trying

Most years, sure maybe. Perhaps even probably. This year? Nah. It’s Willy Wonka out there, and we all want a golden ticket. |

Funny, I think with how the team is playing, Cutter is going back to school, no respect - wcorvette
If Cutter was hell bent on playing in the NHL sooner than later I don’t think the team being bad would be a hindrance. If anything he would possibly play more. |

While Cates is not a player that will elevate a team to contending status. He is absolutely the kind of player that a contending team needs. Strong two way depth forwards are key types of players that are needed to build a complete team. He is still young at 24. |

Right, the first overall pick is out of the question, no team in their right mind would trade that this year. But the 2nd or 3rd pick? I was thikning maybe there was a chance. |

Cates will eventually make Laughton expendible. |

even if they wait till 2024 the buy out sucks, better off sucking it up until there is a real reason to take the hit - wcorvette
I can see them sending him to LHV then. I see torts planting his flag that he doesn’t want him on the team in any capacity |

Never know what's going to happen but according to Elliotte Friedman, who is a really informed source. Unlikely that they trade Konecny. Hart, Provorov and Hayes are who the Flyers want to move. - MJL
Really? I’m a bit surprised that they want to move on from hart. It makes sense but it’s been a small sample size from Ersson and konecny would fetch more I believe. |

I find it bittersweet to hear Coates is hanging up the mic. It's a good time for him to move on of his own volition, but I've always enjoyed his candor. I still think it was a mistake moving him from TV to radio. - BulliesPhan87
Its time. He looked over his last shoulder long ago |

Hart is going to need a new contract in a year and a half. Does it make sense with the teams timeline to sign him to a bigger money deal? |

Someone tell me why you would send foerster back down if he’s doing nothing but asserting himself and showing that he belongs. Who gives a rats ass about the phantoms playoffd why would that be better? |

It's very good experience for young players to have a playoff run. Plus, can't keep playing Frost with good players.

if rumors are true that Bundy will be coming back in some capacity, you have Danny as GM, they may bring in Lindros in doing...something...
and since Luke Richardson's contract is up around the time Torts is, how do you all feel about bringing in Lukie? Forward thinking, modern coach (assuming we aren't moving away from former Flyers...)
He was my choice ahead of Torts. Timing for that to happen might be right |
