Why would you guys keep sending out the Santo signal

- jribout

He's allowed to have a different opinion and hopes!

Look I get it - he's going to get a look at the end of the year - and if he manages to step up in those 3 games he could get in, then he'll stand a chance of drawing in against Tampa - it's just a lot of ifs that need the right conditions met.

As a person who both has common sense and who was also a former process analyst, I can tell you that the more if conditions you put around something occurring, the less likely it's going to meet the conditions properly!

Insane. Especially since they always talk about the injury factor. Just look at Hoffman's face. He got (frank)ing annihilated.

Parros has proven time and time again that he not only has no idea what he's doing, but also has absolutely no consistency in doing it.

- GreatGigInTheSky

DOPS & injuries like that are blown off. Cheap shot but not a risk career ender seems the grunts mentality. Hockey is a rough tough sport but swallowing your chiclets in that way isn’t acceptable.

Seems scarce of peeps in here.

Can't speak for others, but this site was dead to me from late last night until a couple hours ago.

Maybe they just said (frank) it, it's the weekend. See if it's back on Monday.

What’s your thought on only 1 game suspension for AJ Grier for that crosscheck to the face on Hoffman?

Had that happen to me in Jr broke 2 of my teeth.

- Nighthawk

which team does AJ Grier play for? would it be the Boston Bruins by any chance?

An audition might be ok but why the rush? It’s time to gel & get set for the PO’s not the time to experiment. Just my 2 bits unless the kid really impresses. 4th line I’d rather have more proven vets.
- Nighthawk

Why the rush? Because if he can handle the assignment, and improves the team, then you do it! It's not a guarantee of course, and it's a huge jump, but others have made it.

It is indeed the time to go all in including adding your best prospect if he can help.

Experimenting, taking chances, and pushing limits! It's all right now!

If he can prove himself, I see him on the 3rd line being well insulated playing with ROR and Acciari.

Some scouts see him in the top 6. I figure they've watched him more than I have.

It sounded like Dubas was ready to sign Knies last year and he wanted to go back to college to further develop his game. So I am not convinced he doesn't agree/want to go to AHL for futher development rather that a few games in the NHL, with an outside chance at limited duty in the playoffs.

Now that being said none of us have a F'in clue, so maybe Leafs think he is ready for a prominent role in the NHL.I am just less convinced than some others that he is definitely Leaf bound. I hope so, but some burn in a more prominent role in the AHL could be great for his development.

I was listening to Scott wheeler on leafs lunch the other day and he was saying that knies could slide in right away. He said he could even play 4th line because of his size and physical maturity if he wasn’t ready to step into the 2nd line lw but basically said he’s still an upgrade on Aston-Reese.

Who knows, I haven’t really seen him play but it would be nice to see him in an nhl game to see where we’re at.

- bryant

no real risk to putting him into a couple of games and giving him a few shifts with the top guys...

can't expect him to displace Matthews, Marner, Nylander or Tavares offensively.... but can he compliment then better than Kerfoot has proven? simply question - is he better than Kerfoot?

For me I think perhaps he gets in but line 4. They will limit him out there especially if its playoffs.
- Roadrunner75

As I mentioned it’s 50/50 to me. He’s a college kid with no pro experience looking for ice time with a up contender team who routinely plays only 11 forwards.

Like I said I won’t be surprised to see him but won’t be shocked if he doesn’t get ice time either.

It’s a huge jump to make. Might be on the roster but not play unless injuries.
- Nighthawk

I think leafs media talks too much about the poor kid and that’s what has fans thinking he should get immediately slid into the starting roster, even without proving in practice that he’s ready.

It he proves himself yes the 3rd line makes more sense. Kerfoot imo is dispensinle. 4th line don’t see the reasoning though. He should get a regular season audition just because then go from there.

That’s all I’m truly trying to say, it’s a who knows scenario. IF he can perform in the NHL similar as he does in college then fine (which is notably less talented which likely has a significant role in his performance) but for a contender no free passes, earn it or too bad. It’s not like he’s joining a bottom 10 team who has already dropped the hope of being in the playoffs let alone being competitive in them.

That’s why I say no rush. The hype makes no sense to pressure the kid. It’ll happen if he is ready. At worst he is on the PO roster if an injury in the top 6-9. Let him play to his skill then.

True, but we’re also not looking to him to be the saviour or get this team over the hump. He’ll be a depth guy that if he can pot a couple goals off his ass and not be a defensive liability would be a bonus.

In some ways it might be the easiest transition to play with Matthews. They have so much puck possession and he just needs to go to the dirty areas. Just don’t put him in for defensive zone faceoffs against a top line.

What's with Gusto and personal reasons?

Nice to see ROR nearing a return. I'm hoping this extra time off allows him to rejuvenate and be high energy for a deep run.

As much as the JT/ROR/Marner line looks amazing, I sure hope to see ROR at 3C in the playoffs.

Jarnkrok Matthews Nylander
Bunting JT Marner
Lafferty ROR Acciari
Kerfoot Kampf ZAR
Simmonds

That's a pretty deep lineup. If Knies can't fill the need, then move Kerfoot to 3LW.

- Leaffrog

I say no to having Knies in the line up this year. Sign him to an AHL tryout contract and also sign him to NHL contract that start next season.

Can't blame him for this dirty garbage, that Parros, in his infinite wisdom, somehow missed.
