I don’t think it’s a case of defending, it’s more a case of puck possession. The coaching staff seems to have instructed the forwards to dump and chase, much like Maurice. Defense only becomes an issue when you are not in possession of the puck.
I do find it funny that Jets fans want to trade away all of our stars, then keep saying that “no one wants to play here”. I guess they all think that Lowry is ready to become this teams #1 Centre…..

Lucius, Lambert, and McGroarty are all a year or two away and will need spots opening up. Scheifele will 100% for sure not going to re-sign in Winnipeg so is likely traded in the off-season. Dubios likely won't re-sign so it's a case of getting the best possible assets in the off-season instead of losing him for next to nothing to the Habs. These two are actually the only really good centers in the NHL that might come available in the off-season. There are basically no UFA's out there of equal caliber. Bottom line...Scheif and Dubios could bring in a nice haul to fill some of the gaps. Let's not forget about Perfetti sliding into one of those center spots.
RW Wheeler will be done in a year but "might" get some action at next year's trade deadline. A UFA like Okposo would fill his gap nicely.
I think our D prospects look fine. Trade Pionk for some assets though.
I found it upsetting that all three very promising Winnipeg prospects at last year's draft were taken before Chevy's turn. The Jets need to draft more homegrown products so they will be happy living and playing here and do so with pride and their families and friends around them. There are also some great Winnipeg players around the NHL who would be happy to play for their hometown Jets. M. Stone, ( Flames) C. Glass ( Nashville), and Domi (Dal)) are three players who would be nice local additions.
Either way, the future is not nearly as bad as it currently looks. Need better coaching. Hopefully, Bowness is gone in the off-season. Buy him out.
