You love the what if game. You play it all the time.

The Sabres haven’t come close since they were at 50% to make it around the deadline

They tanked to under 7% two weeks ago and never rose

It was over then. Unless you don’t believe in math

- sbroads24

The Sabres were Alex Lyon turning into Dom Hasek away from having close to 50% odds again going into Tuesday.

You said the season was over weeks ago, not true

Could go down as best trade in Sabres history.
Way too early to tell obviously

It was over at the beginning of March. Every "must win" game they had this year, they choked...miserably.

sorry but that is just not true... if it was over at the beginning of march they would have been eliminated a while ago. they are not making to playoff this year.... whatever but don't say it was over in early march because but wasn't. We know the team has holes... but these kids are just going to keep getting better and better.

Does the getting better happen after losing all the important games? Asking for a friend, he plays college hockey and wants to decide.

We just had the best season in 15 years and EVERYTHING is pointing in the right direction and this is your takeaway? Worse, it isn't even true.

They didn't loose ALL the important games... Jesus you love to exaggerate. they were inconsistent go figure... like kids usually are.

All you’re doing is dancing around the point I was making in the first place which is it’s really hard to gain ground because you don’t just win alll your games while the team your chasing just loses all of theirs. Yes, you’re right that if Florida lost the games they won while we won the games we lost we could’ve made it.

They poop the bed in most must win games since the Allstar Break.
It is a situation until they prove they can win those games with high pressure on.

Don't you get it? The games that we won't aren't important because we won them. Much better to cherry-pick the schedule to fit a narrative.

Jesus H, we are knocking on the door of 90 points in a hellacious conference a year after posting 75 points. We have the youngest team in the league and the kids play the big minutes at the end of games. And our goaltending was bad. But yeah, we didn't win all of the big games. The teams that are ahead of us are better than us, today. Many won't be next year.

It is one of the drivers for me to beat-up the "veteran leadership" on this roster.
They may need to get a guy who has actually won something to be that internal voice to will the team to win. Nice grandpa days are officially over.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see how you arrive at this conclusion. Yeah, they had a lull after the all-star break. It is no coincidence that they took a dip when they got some injuries. But no, they aren't world beaters yet. I hate to break this to you but the teams that beat them aren't that far below them and weren't nearly as bad as we thought they would be. poop the bed? Seriously? Haven't you had the most fun watching a them in the last 15 years?

We are 2 years from the lowest point in our history. We've made HUGE point jumps 2 years in a row while playing rookies and 1st year players. All while having mediocre goaltending and playing in a stacked division. And somehow all of this isn't impressive at all, and it is the Okposo's fault because he doesn't say the right words to them.

You freaking people....

So we won several games against teams that are better than us, but didn't win all of the games. By golly, you got me. The 15 point jump this year and being entertaining as hell wasn't enough. Lets wrap ourselves around the sadness of the incompetency of previous management and terrible players.

Didn't you just enjoy the hell out of this season? Isn't this team a ton of fun? And can't it just be that every team that is ahead of them is better than they are right now? There was no great failure here. They weren't expected to make the playoffs and it isn't a surprise to anyone that they just missed. It was a hell of a year.

The result of the "best season in 15 years" is that the team finally stepped over a bar that has only been 6 inches off the ground for 15 years.

That ends in golfing early for the 12th straight year, small battles were won, at the end of the season this will be chalked up as a failure.

Every season is different, a few injuries this year was the excuse during the most important part of the season.

You cannot predict the future only prepare, they had an opportunity and blew it this season.

Rookies/progress/hope/smelly diarrhea- all just excuses
