Also “way ahead of schedule” is an absolute kick in the face.

Was the plan to be bad this year and get a high pick or try to get bedard, because that’s what it absolutely sounds like.

- ImThatGuy

Why act like you don't know what The Plan was.
Develop and Evaluate.
Several key players came through in big BIG ways, others taking a bit longer but are developing.
Now, I was firmly seated on the Meier train and view that as a grand opportunity lost, and I beli3ve they need to trade for a Top4 RhD so don't bring up the Murray It response thingy.
Relax
Stay Calm
Help is on the way.

No directed solely at you, just used your post as a jumping off point.

That's the thing though, they indeed did fold their tents in some very meaningful games from the Allstar Break forward. They were no-shows in many games against lesser opponents and were completely outclassed in other big games against playoff teams. And they won some against the same...consistently inconsistent.

Still, up til April 6th, they had a chance at PO's and were playing meaningful games.

Conversely, they may have been able to qualify for the PO's had the FO made a meaningful acquisition rather than 2 that are headscratchers.

There are two sides to the coin.

- IonSabres

Good Post!! Been a fantastic year development wise and growth wise, but opportunities were missed. It will be fun to see which way they go over the next 7 months.

This would be disappointing.

Looks like an optional practice for the Sabres, or there are several receiving a maintenance day.

UPL in the net typically reserved for the starter of the next game. I expect to see him against the Hurricanes.

Friedman generally is the best source but he is full of shlt sometimes. I don’t believe that 5th round rumor for a second

Jamie McLennan and Bryan Hayes were having a conversation about regrettable trades and during that chat on TSN Overdrive, both mentioned they’d heard the same story about how the Sabres almost traded Tage Thompson before he broke out and signed a long-term contract in Buffalo. The Sabres look like geniuses now, but apparently, they almost gave up on Thompson, dumping him for anywhere between a third and fifth-round draft pick.

Why not? The idea of trading Tage before the expansion draft and protecting 4D wasn't crazy at all.

Yup, 4D would have been a reasonable route at the time. I'd be surprised if they weren't exploring some trades at the time.

I'm not writing off greenway or stillman.

Greenway just earned a 2nd nhl contract with Minnesota, there's a good player possibly.

Stillman , the butt of most jokes and nepotism, has played well.

I just dont get it.

Chryrun is predictably injured , and may have blocked Ryan jo from signing here in buffalo.

These guys are making way more good moves then bad.

The big moves have been hits.... this is crazy talk.

Am I the only one that sees a powerhouse in the making?

How about having our 1 and 2 centers tied up for 7 years at value contracts.

That's way more important then a stillman trade for some toughness we all wanted 🤔

- Boss34

No, future looks brighter than year's past, it just doesn't excuse their mistakes. I can't disagree more on Stillman and Greenway so will leave that out. I'll key on the Chychrun point and say simply, I would trade RyJo for future considerations if it guaranteed playoff games for this team and an end to the drought. There's a reason the stands are still empty, people have lost faith and promises of the future mean nothing at all, absolutely nothing at all, less if that's possible.

Riddle me this.

Why is it, that when there's a supposed "bad" rumor about the Sabres (such as attempting to give Thompson away, which every person on this board would have done), it automatically HAS TO BE TRUE?

But when there are rumors that Adams tried like hell for a goalie (or two), it's bullsh!t?

beane didn't wait to get josh brown, beasley and diggs though once he had his star qb
foster benjamin and holmes were out of here and upgrades were made asap

- homiedclown

So now the Sabres have their star G (we hope, but he sure looks legit and has a champion's attitude).
THIS offseason, we also hope Adams "Beaner's" it and gets his hole fillers where needed...2nd G, Top4 RhD for Power, and some productive feisty F for the middle 6.

Experience has taught me to assume the worst with this franchise. I still want them to do well, but am skeptical anytime I hear good news/accept bad news as fact pretty readily.

Question, is this is pessimistic or realistic given our track record?

Realistic until proven otherwise, sure this year certainly helped and gave glimpses. But there’s still problems with the roster that were the same as when Adams took over. Defense and G to a point now that Levi looks legit.

I respect this post and your opinion.

If you thought the Sabres were gonna trade for chyrun and meier, greenway and stillman must be a huge disappointment.

I didnt think the organization was gonna go get 2 nhl vets that cost a bunch of money.

1 guy that's had a long list of injuries and surgeries.

No bueno...

that is the 50 dollar question

if adams does next to nothing this summer, will those that defend him on everything keep the company line, or join the dark side which has cookies
