For the price we paid for him, I need the dude to move mountains. I need one big defensive play per period and no less than a ppg. I know it’s only 1 game, but I’m definitely going to be critical given the price and term, plus most fans clamoring about how he’s a playoff performer. He played with hall of famers his whole career, and part of the reason they played so many playoff games was having a HOF goalie, supported by a HOF Hedman, and HOF offense.. and he’s not 26.. he’s only going to get older and slower.
So the man better show up this year because it’s not like he’s going to improve next year.. or the year after that.. or that.. or that.

Also need Bratt to show us he’s worth the insane money his agent thinks he should get.

He’s produced at a half a point per game his whole career and this season hasn’t been any different. I’m not sure why management wanted him so badly, I have never been big on him. And like you said he’s getting older and slower. I would like him bought out after next season but I think they’ll keep him around for 2 more seasons.

Checking out Boston’s cap and contract situation moving forward. Idk how they’re gonna afford to ice a full lineup next season, especially if they re-sign Bergeron. Bertuzzi is a great fit there but he’s likely gone. Maybe Krejci too. They’re so loaded this playoff run.

Good points, and yes they ARE very loaded. In fact, I would argue the trade deadline somewhat ruins the integrity of the season by allowing teams to load up. Think of all the teams who load up right before the playoffs and ice a drastically different team than they played all 82 games. Is it fair? I would argue it’d be better to allow teams to do all the TDL maneuvering they like BUT they MUST remain cap compliant for the whole playoffs.

Were this the case, a few recent Cup winners wouldn’t have likely won their cups. Sure they did it all within the rules, but I think the NHL would be better served to look into this deeper. (Although unlikely). Just my 2 cents

Boys better wake up today ready to move their feet! Didn't seem like anybody, let alone a couple guys (and that's probably being generous), were truly providing some next-level playoff hustle out there last game. Hoping to see some noticeable effort tonight.

Good to know that Wood can play like poop in the playoffs and still not be scratched.

First of all, moving Wood to a different line doesn't make him any better, it just makes the players he is with worse.

Secondly, how on earth do you move up a guy who got BENCHED in game 1 to the 3rd line for game 2!?

Shot from the point will be deflected twice then go in off of Wood's knee which will solidify his spot on the roster for the rest of the playoffs.

From the Ranger fans comentary over on Jan's write up in regards to Wood moving up:

Woods gonna get more time to douche it up

Love them moving Wood up the lineup. Let him get as many minutes as possible. Those lines look a lot less deep with Meier moved up. Look for a big game from the kids

Good give us the powerplays. Guy is a plug

They're all spot on. How does everyone see/know this aside from the NJD staff?!

Seriously, what the (frank) was the point of burning a whole goddamn year off Luke’s rights to have him benched these first 2 playoff games????

He played FANTASTIC our last 2 reg season games. Seems like Lindy is trying to play it safe by keeping a 19 year old out. (frank) that wussy move!!! Play this (frank)ing kid! We WASTED a whole (frank)ing year for him to play 2 meaningless games? Lindy’s a wussy and a moron. He’s just had a talented team and (most) staff making him look better.

Fire this (frank)ing dinosaur! Let Burnette take over!!!! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Because he has played 2 career games with hardly any practice and doesn't have the experience or chemistry? And in one of the games he played less than 12:mins

I get he is a shiney new toy and he will be very good but sometimes you don't just throw him into the playoffs without being ready

Then why waste a year of his ELC? That’s so (frank)ing dumb. If that’s the reason to keep him out, then we just walked him to UFA 1 year sooner so he could play in 2 games after we’ve already clinched. If it wasn’t for losing a year off his contract, I wouldn’t bring it up. But GM’s have to be EXTREMELY economic with player years. It makes absolutely no sense to waste this time.

He has to play more than 9 regular season games to burn a year

Unfortunately that’s not true for Luke.

Regardless of if he plays the Devils will burn a year of his ELC. That is because Hughes has aged out of the 10-game rule. Even though he is 19, he’s considered 20 for the purposes of the ELC. The ELC is based on the age of the player during the calendar year you sign.
