I don't think the position of 39 and others is the Sabres need to bring grit in 4th liners like Greenway as you reference in your post, unless you consider Tkachuk a 4th liner. Is he slow and not very skilled?
How about bringing in a guy who can be a productive top 6 player who has physicality to his game and plays with an edge? The Sabres don't need that?
That is a bold take. - IonSabres
Exactly. There are two posters in particular who seem to be under the impression that grit and toughness are the opposite of skill. |

IMO, the best teams have a nice mix of all of it...
High skill guys
Offensive-minded guys
2-way dogs
Playmakers
Finishers
Checkers/possession guys
Energy guys
To name some.
Individual players should have a mix of them, rather than purely one-trick ponies.
Then, add in the soft skills, intangibles like high compete, leadership, Drive to improve every day, team oriented...these are the difference makers that put teams over the top.
Again, IMO.

good job patriots
trade up to get the 4th ranked kicker in the 4th round
4) Chad Ryland, Maryland
Where most people have a foot attached to their leg, Chad Ryland has a bazooka. That’s allowed him to nail a 50-plus-yard attempt in each season of his college football career. Ryland’s career-long is 55 yards, while he hit a 53-yarder this season for the Terrapins.
Although he holds multiple program records for EMU and Maryland, Ryland needs to demonstrate more consistency. The 2023 NFL Draft prospect missed half of his attempts over 50 yards this fall and is the only kicker on this list of the top prospects at the position to have missed an extra attempt in 2022.

Yup, read up on him this am in an article by Wheeler on The Athletic....seems he has been working hard on his skating. If he can be NHL Average there he has alot of the tools Sabres can use. |

Wow! That's surprising. I love the kid but that would surprise me if he didn't get a bit of time in Rochester. Would like to see a line of Nadeau Savoie Rousek.
Nadeau- A banger who goes and gets the puck with good offensive skills
Savoie- Slick skater with dishing and shooting abilities
Rousek- Can do it all, but he's got a really good wrist shot and he is not afraid. |
