In the NHL, your age for CBA reasons is your age on Sept 15th of the year you sign the contract, regardless of when you actually sign the contract.
So if he signed "yesterday" and played "today", he is still a 22yo for purposes of contract, but by playing 1 game, (and because he is over the ages of 18 & 19 which require >10 games to count as a professional season), that would count as a professional season.
Summary:
If he signed already and played 1 game, ELC expires 2024 offseason.
Sign anytime between now and the end of 2023, ELC expires 2025 offseason |
|
|
|
You think he will have played less than 80 NHL games over the next 4 seasons?
That's the only way he qualifies for Group 6 per what you posted. - kingcong39
UFA shouldn't be much of a topic. Unless he's a Casey Nelson type tweener, he's going to hit UFA at 27.

on the johnson issue
at this point if he does not sign by ufa day, just go get a ryan graves or carson soucy
either would be an upgrade over stillman, leaving stillman as the 7th d man
both can play pk and ensure bryson is not playing and we get a late 2nd rd pick if johnson walks

If KO comes back I’m only paying him a mil if that. And he’s the 13th forward. - ImThatGuy
KA needs to get his story straight now with regard to KO and MrFalldownGuy...either he is not blocking the young guys coming up (Kulich, Savoie, Rousek) or he is playing favorites not to win. |

If this group can’t survive without Okposo they are not as good as we thought. |

But but but… vibes…. (Can’t use economics on this one, kids would be cheaper).
I am also intrigued by an earlier comment. Does the front office shuffle to solidify its members and future.

OK Boss, happy for him, hopefully he keeps it up. Atleast it only took 5yrs, guess the 9yr Vet will never hit his potential. - Buff36
Girgs did enough, you know what I'm saying 👀
Another gigantic secondary assist last night.
Just slightly off the 10/10 prediction |

The only way krebs has a future in Buffalo is if Tage/Cozens/Mitts/Savoie get hurt and they need a fill in.

Sorry to say to the Captain but if they do bring them back. Girgensons should be the one to stay. Atleast he can still skate somewhat. As much as that pains me to say. |

It’s honestly disturbing some of the tweets I see celebrating this season as some sort of massive success.
We’re going to be an excellent team. It’s going to happen.
It could’ve happened this year too |

He very well could, could be a piece to get that Dman. Just have him in the top 6 cause he earned it and Greenway kinda throws things off. Hopefully he comes into Camp full bore and with more than his purse. |

Wouldn’t that be 3 for this management group and that’s with a year of Kruger stank…
Yes, ownership has crapped the bed. But Adam’s, Ventura, karmanous are really only 2 years… |
