See Boss you are wrong there, they did play a roll in this team developing. I don't dislike either player, just think there time with this team is over or nearing a end. There is No need for both players, 1 I could see but both No. People on this Board have been crying about not going after players because it could affect or block younger players. Well bringing back both Girgensons or Okposo does that. - Buff36
If you bring them both back for another year, what changes next summer?

Nothing because your Roster is basically set already. Olofsson was already sitting. Unless you are trading Mitts which would be kinda a surprise at this point. I think Jost and Rousek could fill the openings adequately |

Yeah I could see 1, and would rather it be Girgensons if it does happen. It also doesn't mean that FA D doesn't have a little playoff leadership either. Dumba Mayfield Clifton - Buff36
Not really trying to be a stickler but arnt dumba , mayfiled and Clifton nhl defenseman?
We're gonna have to start the week over again 😉 |

13 actual better nhl forwards.
There is 0% guarantee rousek , kulich or savoie bring anywhere near the defensive awareness of girgensons or okposo. |

Are you arguing that those 2 are the best hockey moves for a near cap floor team?
I don't think bringing them back would have anything to do with hockey.

I respectfully disagree.
Donnie the center whisperer uses that pair in plenty of important hockey situations.
Starts the home games sometime with them .
They played good , someone needs to actually be better. |

Very true on someone playing better. But unless you show faith in Rousek to take that spot than we won't know if he is better. |

Easy to say, but playing better than them doesn't earn you their spot.

Seriously, that's on odd take.
Why do the dynamic duo get so many tough matchups?
Kyle slowed down a step, girgensons has had a great defensive season.
10 goal 4th liner , doubt either breaks the bank. |

Nor should it.
2 nhl veterans earned those spots. Someone has to be flat out better. Tie goes to the buffalo guys IMO.
It's not easy to replace what girgensons brings. |

You could replace Girgensons with your average fan and get the same or better results |

How much better is Girgs than Jost or Greenway?

When people say grit, what do you think they mean?
I’m letting you drag me into a tangent anyways. The salient point us that talent and toughness aren’t opposites. You think we want a team of Andrew Peters clones, which is your false premise. What we want is for the Sabres to address a deficiency. You’re the one making this painful and difficult. - SoCalPucks

Teams will often bring in players that are considered superstars nearing the end of a good career.
Spezza, Thornton, Staal, Toews, Okposo. One doesn't belong. |

Skinner Mitts Tuch
Tallness Cozens Greenway
JJ Krebs Quinn
Girgensons Jost Rousek
Don't really like Greenway there, hopefully he brings more next season. Think Mitts and Tallness can switch if things get stagnant. I do think 1 of Kulich or Savoie will be up here, but for now until we see Adams next phase.

I am not sure I like Tallness on the wing. He excelled at center (needs faceoff work). But putting him on the wing I think takes away part of his game.
Also, if 89s info comes true and the add a too 6 wing, what’s the lineup look like then. I don’t like the p-Kane idea, but Terry may get his man. Always the fanboy…
They really have too many forwards when you consider the prospects that are close.
It’s going to be interesting. |

Agreed, I am just trying to fit things together with different combinations. I basically went with this until we see Adams next phase. They really do have a plethora of Forwards. See if there up to the quicker evaluations that will need to happen. |

Wrestle Kadri and Markstrom away from Calgary and this team is an instant contender.
Add Klingberg and Dumba and it's a very serious season. Hang Skinner out as bait for some picks and or prospects and take the rest of the summer off.

Are you proactively trying to save money on Quinn's next deal by putting him on a 3rd line that will get less minutes with the above lineup?
No way in hell should Greenway be in the top 6 over him. |

Not at all, like I said I really don't like him there and Quinn is with players he played well with during Rochester's playoffs 2yrs ago. I don't like Greenway and would have rather kept the 2nd, he's there because I don't think he can play with anyone else. |
