This team does need to be tougher. Sadly, hits are independent of being tough.

Let me ask you. If there was a quantifiable stat called Difficulty to Play Against.. and it had absolutely nothing to do with hits.

This team does need to be tougher. Sadly, hits are independent of being tough.

The Sabres will become difficult to play against once they gain confidence. They are the youngest team in the league...everyone wants to sign a brain damaged Okposo so there is a Dad in the locker room, they need a protector on the ice...for now.

It's a reactive game, the chances players tighten up will greatly reduce once they know they have that security.

This allows the youth to grow into themselves and gain a chip on their shoulder making them tough to play against.

Yeah, and you know Gus and Okposo would be throwing hits like crazy! Sure. And the 12 skill guys I did put on the ice the bottom 3 have been good 200ft players with more speed and offensive upside. Damn what have either brought us over there time here. Team got better because of the Young skilled players, there supposed leadership was great. Yeah I am ready to move on, so should the Sabres if they want to move to there next phase.

The team proved they didn't need 1 last year. I don't see how 1 year later when these guys are a bit older they all of a sudden need 1.

Be nice if Greenway used his body, or if Girgs learned to stay afloat he could hit. Dont need to be a big body to use your body either,

Does everybody know that goons that go head hunting for the large check are pretty much all out of the league now.

The ones who do lay the big hits often are injured or suspended.

We do NOT need a player who can fight. we need to have a TEAM toughness Mentality. its starting all ready, this year you saw Krebs drop the mitts a few times and Tage too. that shat goes a long way in the locker room and it rubs off on others. I am not wanting my start players to drop the gloves all the time, but when the situation warrants it, hell yeah I do.

They have Heart... They need to learn to finish every single check they can, never peel away, always make body contact. That's really all you need to do.

when I played (many, many moons ago) we were a smaller team but we were taught to play hard on the puck and to always finish our checks, the smallest of our teammates would finish checks. As a result we were ranked 8th in the state. Now we did have some very talented players but we all rowed in the same direction.

This is kind of what I meant by heart. Finish your checks and don't be afraid to take some back, block shots, Hussle back, play for the guy beside you.
