Beats the sh¡t out of being the Detroit Lions of the NHL
Might have to change that to the Bears after next year, sorry Gramps - Wetbandit1
The Lions also took a huge step in the right direction this year and look like they have a very bright future.
All starts with solid drafting and goes from there. |

Only a matter of time before we go from complaining about the drought to complaining about early playoff exits.
31 GM’s this offseason will have to go back to the drawing board at the end of the day this offseason to see what moves they can make to get a parade next year - Swedish_Jesus
After 12yrs I can't wait to complain about it. But we haven't even got there yet. |

a lot of things went right on offense and no guarantee those guys stay healthy or repeat career years |

How thrilled would you be if the Bills go one and done this year ?
Might not be the Lions of the past decade, but when you fall short of expectations it all feels the same. |

wtf? i am actually quite encouraged about the direction of the bears for the first time in years. seems they finally have put together a competent front office with poles and warren plus the asst gm is highly thought of, too. |

Very true, still work to be done. Let's get that done and make the playoffs before worrying about losing in them. |

any worries that your qb has thrown for over 250 yards twice in 2 seasons?

There LB core could be special. Sanborn looks to be pretty good and add Edmunds and Edwards |

a lot of them but they will see what they have with him this season while building the rest of the team while evaluating him.
pace left them in such a bad place both in terms of cap space and talent. poles did a lot of work getting the cap under control and wheeling and dealing for more draft pick last draft and i think he will try to do the same at this draft.
they need linemen on both sides of the ball. i think they will be middle of the pack with their o-line this season but their d-line was terrible last season and needs playmakers badly |

yeah. i think their back half of the D will be okay and will be much better with any kind of pass rush.
edwards was such a sneaky good signing. edmunds and roquan smith are basically the same player to me but i think smith asking for a trade soured poles on him. plus, for as many tackles as smith makes, a ton of them are 7 yards down field. |

The organization did thats why i was surprised when lots of the fans thought it was a joke that they trusted him to lead the team to the playoffs - gerbe75pts
It was more about trusting a rookie to live up to incredible expectations. People always want the shiny new player to come in and be amazing and it's rare that it actually happens. So when he came in and actually lived up to what we hoped it was nice to see.
Did some backreading and my comment on Savoie is this, I expect he's going to be in the NHL next year but might not play in all the games. I could see him being the extra forward where he practices with the team, learns from the coaches and players, gets in 40-60 games with more of those being later in the season. Something similar to Krebs where he sits for a few games and plays for a few games. This year we let Peterka and Quinn work through their struggles at maybe the expense of production and it was probably a good move overall, but I don't see them doing the same this year. That said, if he comes in and looks like he belongs the point is moot. Kulich has the ability to go up and down so he starts in Rochester and comes up if he looks good or with injuries. |

8 players are going to have career years next year as well.
The Sabres will be the only team to improve internally.
Everyone else will just be content with playoffs, because all but 1 team loses so why bother with trying your hardest. |

Depending on the reason, not very.
But the Bills have made at least the 2nd round the last 3 years in a row while the Leafs haven't made the 2nd round in approximately 47 years, so that doesn't make any sense.
Plus only 43.75% of NFL teams make the playoffs. 53.3% of NHL teams made the playoffs for half the Sabres drought. And the NFL being single elimination in which anything can happen in 1 game while the NHL is best of 7. That's a significant difference. |

Very good post.
I could definitely see savoie skip some games early and prove his way into the lineup. |

I’ve seen on a number of occasions the better hockey team lose a 7 game playoff series.
End of the day they are all small sample sizes, especially once you get down to win and go on games.
The Leafs had no business losing to Montreal in the bubble but it happened. |

Almost like in any shortened series anything can happen and the regular season is essentially meaningless. 🤷🏻♂️ |
