Is it a stretch to say Mitts has been the Sabres best player the last 5 games or so?

Just a few things I found out today,

Levi, UPL and Comrie next year, they would prefer Levi 1 and UPL 2 but Comrie is under contract. Some young players in the AHL that are doing well with there evaluations may not fit in to the future plans will be moved for NHL ready players. They want to bring in another 1st or 2nd Dman, that will happen. Also looking into another top 6 Winger. Adams and CO. are very happy with how this team has played also, do not count out Okposo and Girgensons not coming back. Alot of respect for both within the organization. Okposo will take some time to re set.

I don't have any info in which younger players are being talked about as of now. I still heard the 3 year deal for P Kane was being talked about but not sure if he wants to come home if not, they have a few others players being talked about. Tyler Toffoli and Noah Hanifin were mentioned to me. I like Gavrikov IMO.

I'll say he's always had that piece, just wasn't able to put it together with other parts of his game. Even when Jack was still here he had some silky passes that could rival his. His issue was hustle, work ethic, and passing off good chances. Then this year I think he got hitched to the Olofsson wagon and that's very feast and famine. When he's scoring Mitts is getting points, when he's not he's not helping him at all.

Last 32 games he has 7-22-29 and is a +2. Thompson going down gave him the opportunity to be on the top line and he totally seized it and did so by continuing what he had started earlier in the year. There were games in January where he wasn't getting points but he would pick up the puck and look like he was shot out of a cannon, just quick acceleration and moving the puck up. Do that while you're playing with guys like Tuch and Skinner and giving them nice passes and you're going to get points.

He's still hard to slot for next season. He's obviously not as good as Thompson and Cozens beats him in power and should likely be the 2C. So now you're looking at Mittlestadt as the 3C but you really want to get good players on his line to get the most out of him. So potentially a line of

You're right. And honestly Tuch has done more in the games he was healthy too. Too much hyperbole, but he really has been great this last quarter of the season.

Agreed, but if they can get stronger in other areas it should help with UPL and Comrie.

Girgs in the last 5 games and the first 5 games of the year was good. If it was that every game I'm fine. It's the middle 70 that are mid. If he comes back I'm fine, if both of them come back I'm concerned. I'll say I don't like the idea of Hanifin but we will see what they do. It's good that they're recognizing that they're close and it's time to make a few moves to make that push

Levi plays 50-60 next year and it'll be fine. I'm normally cautious banking on rookies but he's just been great.

Play the game, don't get hurt, don't get embarrassed, go home and have the summer off. Both teams are making business decisions right now

If there were extra points for pretty goals the Sabres would clear. The top line is just so nice to watch

Not taking away anything from Mitts. He's had an impressive second half after a really rough start.

Dahlin's not going to get a point there, but he just drove the net and created all that space. Those two D are seemingly involved in everything.

Mittlestadt and Thompson and their progress under Granato is why I'm not ready to say anything about Greenway yet. It's been like 20 games and yes, you definitely want more especially in the effort area, but let's give Donnie the summer and next year to see if he can crack him.

To your point though, power and Dahlin are probably not talked about enough even here. Power is a rookie and playing like this, it's great. He's not getting the goals so he won't win the Calder but to play these minutes and have this impact at his age is awesome. He's got room to grow still and if he does, holy cow.
