If you believe Gerbe's info, it's the player that keeps flip flopping. Sounds like some in the organization are pretty down on him for constantly changing his mind.

Oh, I am not blaming this on the Sabres at all. I have been saying for months and months that it makes ZERO sense for Johnson to sign in buffalo at this point in time. he is 4 months from being a FA that can sign with any team he wants.

But I just wish he would tell the Sabres that he is going to FA. that way we can look at potential trades in including his rights at the draft.

Check that. they are not going to trade him, they will just let him walk and take the 2nd round pick..

Dolphins signed WR Chosen Anderson to a one-year contract.
Anderson was a cap casualty for the Cardinals in March, with his release saving $12 million in cap space. He split time between Arizona and Carolina last year after he was traded from the Panthers in Week 8. Anderson had just seven catches in his 10 games with the Cardinals and has set career lows in receiving yards each of the past two years. Entering his age-30 season, Anderson is unlikely to regain his 2020 form, but gives Miami another deep threat and should see time in three-wide sets.

Maybe " Chosen" should learn how to catch the ball.

KA is going to have a poop ton of Cap Space to work with
No excuses not to get top flight talent and fill all the holes.
If he brings back Okie and Girgensons, then he really doesn't believe his own mantra of not blocking the young guys.
Go get Vets who can actually play and lead.

- IonSabres

Disagree.

Didnt you learn anything from the "eichel is captain" time period. Gotta learn from the past mistakes.

I also feel like the Sabres wouldnt name a captain immediately, if okposo leaves this offseason.

Some kind of rotation until someone really steps up.

* dahlin could have the captaincy dangled for contract leverage.

IF they feel they're ready.

Everyone wants so bad to move on from Zemgus and KO that they're already handing NHL jobs to Savoie, Kulich and Rousek.

"Go get Vets who can actually lead and play".

You're still blocking the kids.

If anything, Weissbach might be more ready than any of those three for a 4th line job.

- Powerslave

I think Rousek is ready to at least get a stretch of games at some point

Okposo and Zemgus wouldn't block Savoie and Kulich. You will never see those two on the 4th line.

Its a fallacy to think moving on from Okposo opens a spot for Savoie or Kulich.

Really? So you think the other 5 guys in the room helping Adams aren't enough? I mean you only got 12-15 scouts and management.

Every other GM in the league must be trash for not asking his entire team which players to go get.

I mean why wouldn't you use every resource in the organization?

Utter nonsense.

Savoie will probably take Olofsson's spot if Olofsson is gone. At least a 9 game tryout. Tough sending Savoie back to the WHL. Top 6 is pretty much set with Greenway and Mittelstadt moving up and down the lineup.

The only spots I see open is the 4th line and Buffalo could bring back Okposo and Girgensons. Jost maybe the 13th spot.

I think Kulich starts in the AHL next year but gets callups.

Thats how I see it right now but of course trades can happen.

No way in hell Buffalo goes after Patrick Kane. Poor little Gerbe needs attention sometimes.

Disagree strenuously.
Bringing back Zemgus and Okie blocks young kids from playing/developing since those two add exactly zero (exaggeration for sure) in the way of scoring production. They may be respected by their teammates (good on them), but their leadership doesn't overcome their lack of production any more. The Sabres can and must do better.
Bringing in Vets who can actually play at a significantly higher level of production does, which is a form of leadership on ice.
Stone hands Girgs and slow foot Okposo just don't have it anymore. Nice guys for sure.

It isn't like those two only cornered the leadership trait.
Retaining those two blocks young players because those two can't effectively play in the new NHL, while a couple of young studs just need to develop to find their way.

Like I said before, thank them and say goodbye.

I doubt any of those guys can do a better job. Kyle's re-signing, folks oughta get used to that. ZG, I'm not sure.

Malone gets injured all the time. Kozak's probably got at least another year. Pekar is an AHL-ECHL tweener. Rousek, I don't think he's a forechecker. You probably want him on the third line. And Murray, guy's had zero games in the NHL this year.

If those two didn't come back, two guys their age would come right in.

Not necessarily spots on L4, although given Savoie's status I could see him rotating in for awhile (He is in no mansland)

I would see a possibility of losing a resource in the existing top 9 as part of a trade (Mitts / Krebs / Peterka ?) for a G or Dman.
[I could also see KA being intrigued by a L3 of Mitts/ Cozens/ Quinn]

Olo should be gone, Greenway should be on L4 (or really , get rid of him IF that is how he plays) Savoie could go there on L3 if he shows ok.

Rousek should go on L4 to begin. Can he play himself up higher? I'd love to watch it rather than Okie anymore.

So, Savoie either rotates in on L4 with 13F until he develops better, or if he shows goes to L3.
Rousek goes on L4.

Greenway pushes Girgs out.
Rousek pushed Okie out.

I have heard people saying too much for rookies Savoie and Rousek...meh, Quinner and JJ held their own with another younger player in Cozens.
