He did. Sutter's coaching style once again sank the Flames and inflated the value of all of his defenders.

If they're looking to retool their team (I'd definitely not rebuild there) he could be a prime target. For the Sabres, he absolutely should be if there's any inkling that they'd be willing to listen.

You're right that they shouldn't trade him. But as mentioned, if they decide to listen, prepare to throw the sink at them. Offer Kulich.

- TheSabresTaco

A little surprised you're on the Weegar trade idea.

No issue or concern with paying him until he's 37?

I keep seeing his name brought up.

Didn’t he just sign an extension?

Edit he did and a reasonable one at that. Ain’t no way in hell Calgary is trading him.

- ImThatGuy

I could definitely see Calgary trading him if they get a good return, as they'd no longer be paying a defenseman from the ages of 30 to 37.

heh. thought he was 27. I was fine with 35. I think he gives you 5-6 good years. I'd still do it, but those extra years probably negate some value in the trade.

They signed him to a short term 3 year deal when he was on the cusp of turning 27.

His new deal also doesn't kick in until next season.

Good Read!! Sabres are going to have a lot of options with there Forwards. Evaluating will need to be done quicker on these players. Which ones can be useful to the roster and which may be used as assets for trades and such.

Yeah, but you wear pants under chaps, unless you don't, in which case your ass is hanging out.

Thanks Hank for the blogs, I always read them and gave up on the comments because of the garbage a few posters repeatedly pushed. You definitely will be missed. Enjoy not having to promote the most dysfunctional front office in sports.

I thought Weegar’s extension kicked in for this season, and Huberdeau’s starts next season.

What are the chances we could sign one of either Severson or Graves from the Devils? Any chance at either of them. Would love Severson. I know they have to sign Meir to his contract so I'm wondering if they're going to pay both of those d.
- Carlo

The devils should have room to sign one of graves or severson, they will probably try for graves even though sevs has been a trooper just graves is more a defensive dman and the devils need that
