It’s not about toughness to me either. It’s being a team that can adapt different styles of play and win different ways based on opponent.

Devils, like the Sabres are a finesse on the rush offensive team. That’s how they will win. Teams in the postseason typically can take away aspects of a team

Teams like the lightning for example can play uptempo transition, they can play a shutdown game, they can play a cycle game or they can play an in your face tough get greasy goals game. We don’t have a roster like that yet

- sbroads24

Basically agree on all points. That's why if they want to bring back some leadership to help, maybe we should look outside to a player that has a few cup runs.

Can you understand the differences in NA hockey and Euro hockey.

Stop digging...1st law when you are in over your head.

- IonSabres

That’s understandable for a later round pick, plenty of euro’s come over and adjust accordingly. It was a terrible pick at 14 that fills no holes for when he is ready to play. The notion he was drafted to be traded is silly.

Nylander got the Sabres Joker, IMO Rosen will never make the Sabres or bring anything significant to the club.

Let's try this again.
You hate Adams. That is a fact.
You hate Rosen. That is a fact.
You hate Adams for taking Rosen 14OA. That is a fact.

Given these facts who would you have selected 14OA instead of Rosen?

I know you didn't ask me, but I probably would've drafted Wallstedt. I was a lot higher on him than Cossa and was surprised he went first. Hindsight being 20/20, that pick probably would've lost us Levi and therefore would've been a net loss.

The only reason I say this is we need to remember that there's a lot more that goes into a draft pick than simply talent and the impact can be larger than the player.

Thank you actually answering the question like a grown-ass man, unlike Rangers fans, such as washedup

Yes that’s why 99% of GM’s pick BPA, 13 years and counting.

Sabres are emulating the Devils. Great regular season team. Not built for postseason hockey

Hope they add some elements this offseason.

- sbroads24

Swap Shesterkin and Vaneck and the Devils are up 2-0 in the series.

We said it before this series even started, the Devils will go as far as their goaltending will allow them too.

Shesterkin gives the Rangers a chance in any series at any moment and he’s doing that right now.

Bookmark this and we’ll see how this ages 2 years from now.

Heck if Adams makes a couple quality moves this offseason I have an epic Pegullaville thread from November in the holster.

Any NHL GM afraid of a single hockey player is not an elite GM, bookmark this as well.

Disagree, especially after the first 5-10 picks, a lot comes down to preference and team need. Talent is the largest consideration as everyone is looking for the best, but the later you go, the less of an end all be all, it is IMO. The Bruins are notorious for picking for need.

Well yes, swapping the best (maybe 2nd best) player the Rangers have for like the 10th-14th best player on NJ would make a large impact.

Not trying to pat myself on the back here but I told you when we talked about them earlier that they’d have issues scoring in the playoffs. It was too obvious they would

Devils average shots on goal per game regular season - 34.4 per game top 3 in the NHL

Through two playoff games 51 shots 25.5 per game

They’re getting 9 less shots per game. That’s not “just swap Shesterkin”

Who doesn’t have issues scoring on Igor Shesterkin ?

Guy has a .960 sv% through two starts and has already saved 3 goals above expected.

If you want to go far in the playoffs, you need a hot goalie and special teams.

The Rangers PP is clicking at 40% and their goalie is virtually unbeatable.

We can talk about toughness and hits until the cows come home, the Devils are average 34.5 hits through two games which is double their regular season average.

Score and stop the score.

They’re also averaging 9 less shots per game than they did in the regular season.

Pretending it’s just Shesterkin is disingenuous at best

They outshot the Rangers 28-23 in Game 1. Shesterkin won his team the game, Vanecek lost his team the game.

Game 2 they put 21 shots on net and I figure being short handed 7 times had something to do with that.

We’ll see what the rest of the series brings.
