The Sabres had an opportunity to get Reinhart signed long term at a great cap hit and didn’t.

- Swedish_Jesus

It's good to know that Adams learned from the mistakes he made in his first offseason as GM.

Don't think it takes a expert to see there Defense is a problem and has been a problem.
- Buff36

We have a top 3 like few nhl teams moving forward.

They will play all the important minutes, probably close to 75 of the 120 minutes.

Boosh was a good addition. Stillman as a #7.

So what , our gm wanted to take a look at joker and bryson in a develop year.

The team was way better then expected, you cant age power, dahiln or samuelsson

Pierre Dorion won the offseason and the trade deadline.

Won everywhere except the standings.

Sometimes the flashy move isn’t the best move.

This wasn’t the Sabres year to go all in, but thanks to his draft picks and contract work to date, the Sabres have multiple all-in years coming up.

- Swedish_Jesus

The Sabres were a 90% playoff caliber roster.

The other 10% is the reason they aren’t still playing.

Not making obvious upgrades to that 10% is the reason they missed. He deserves criticism for that. Everything else is going pretty well and yea I think he’s competent and I think the Sabres will be excellent

For once you’re 100% right. I’d rather argue with a root vegetable. Thanks for the reminder.

The only thing I’ve gotten wrong off the top of my head the last two years was Rossi > Quinn and giving up on Mittlelstadt too early.

Other than that I’ve been pretty spot on and have the receipts to prove it.

You just say a bunch of words without saying anything at all.

Was taking a look at Bryson and keeping Joker in a role he wasn’t good enough in worth missing the playoffs? Honest question

Kinda sad, I'm definitely petty. I'll work on being mean.

You're a really intelligent human and rubs that in posters faces, also a giant hypocrite.

Hope you don't say anything mean. Of course you will.

You whine and also come off as the fun police....

The above is not nearly as easy as it seems with how much the value of defensemen, both NHL level defenders and prospects, has risen the past few seasons.

And it's not just trading for them.

Many teams seem to want a quality prospect defenseman in return for big players.

Look at some recent big trades for examples of the above.

- kingcong39

John Marino was dealt for a third and Ty Smith last offseason.

I do agree though the price for rentals and significant upgrades at the deadline came at a premium. Hence my “all in” comment.

Any of the d-men worth trading for were either rentals or Chychryn who went for an arm and a leg.

Honestly no, but the season was supposedly a growing year. Youngest team in the league year.

Vegas certainly didnt have us as a 1 point miss.
Analytics department probably spoke up on 8 game pointless streaks.

Glad they looked at Quinn and peterka. 2 studs

I get all that

When someone can point out one benefit of missing the playoffs as opposed to making it and ended an 11 year drought, I’ll stop being a little annoyed by it

Well the Sabres have a 2% chance of lucking into Carlsson or Michkov.

Carolina ended their drought in a similar fashion moving up for Svechnikov.

Should also be a couple game changers on the board at 13 (or they trade the pick which should have some value considering the strength of this draft class)

Yeah I don’t think that’s good enough reason.

Again, I think we have a bright future. It was going to happen. Adams has not really done anything special *yet*.

Levi might be special. We will see. Quinn might be great. We will see.

Strange to hear you lump Samuelsson in with Dahlin and Power. He's not what makes the D unique.

KA didn't just want to look at Bryson this year, he gave him a very generous bridge deal.

Year 4 of evaluating Joker. Is he any better than year 1?

With his picks and moves, think it's clear he had confidence in Joker, Bryson, and Fitz. Water under the bridge, but now it needs to be addressed. The fact that almost everyone has year remaining complicates things. In many ways, it would have been easier to address last summer.

As long as Samuelsson can prove he can stay on the ice, then yeah we have a top 3. Until then we need another minute muncher.
