Can Tuch and Tage be considered as aging?

They are going to turn 27 and 26 respectively later this year.

Isn't the time now?

- kingcong39

Again, not arguing the need...I believe it is time to take that next step and bolster what is here.

The point is no one in the Sabres locker room has the voice of weight.

I would not consider those two Tuch / Thompson as "aging"..rather, they are in the "prime" window of their careers.
I think of aging vet on the + side of ~30 with just a couple of solid years ahead (different for each individual obviously).
The key difference IMO is the urgency associated.

One is going to be 30 in 3 seasons. The other in 5.

Think we all agree that time and seasons move very quickly, which means waiting even one more season is not a good idea.

We all agree that it is time to make moves.
I don't agree that 5, even 3 years is on the cusp of being an aging Vet. That is a lifetime for a player.

All it takes is for the Sabres roster to get injured even half the amount they did 2 years ago and next season is a bottom 10 team again.

How many prospect/depth players would you consider trading to fill roster needs?

If the core players don’t match career stats next season where does this roster stand in the east?

This has been my argument all year. If our plan is to not really make any changes and just assume this roster has developed enough to give us the push for the extra 5 points we need and we can rely on a bunch of unproven kids for depth, it will be lucky 13 on the streak.
We need at least 2 playoff seasoned forwards and 1,2 defensemen and a real goalie to split with Levi to weather the injuries at minimum.

Dead last in FO%
Almost last in PK
PP was on life support the second half
Team GAA and SV% was pretty much worst in the league

We are not a playoff ready team with out some key upgrades. Does not have to be overpriced guys, just key guys to help with the above

It is a solid point you make about future depth.

I think existing players who should be considered as trade bait are:
-Joker
-Olofsson
-Comrie
-UPL
-Bryson
Others who could be considered if higher quality is warranted are:
-JJP
-Mitts
-Krebs

Prospects would be
-Rosen
-Ostlund
Several others not named Savoie, Kulich and would really prefer to retain Nadeau & Korzak(sp).

Edit:
Add Picks to that list as well.

Positions to acquire via Trade are:
-Power forward with Finishing, preferably at 2LW
-2RhD to pair with Power
-Goalie
Free Agents would be:
-3LhD with grit
-4C maybe, depending on what they do with Jost.

Good list, what would it take to trade this or next years 1st round picks, would you even consider it? IMO all draft picks are on the table.

I see your edit, nvm

This is dead on. I would add Kulich to the list of potential trade candidates

If Reinbacher is there when we pick in the 1st that pick better not be used in a trade unless it's a bona-fide top 6F or Top 3 D coming back in the package.

The NFL draft just needs to happen already.

I am getting annoyed at all the mock drafts and espn overrating players now

Just draft them already

I agree. That should be the case

Any Prospect that hasn’t “marinated” in Rochester could be trade bait due to being more of an unknown.

I’m thinking oslund. Kulich at the AHL level at 18 is proving he can score and has a high ceiling

Oslund is over seas and playing against men. It’s not a true indicator where he is at in his development.

I’m not saying oslund will suck.

I’m using him as an example of where he is at development wise vs Kulich or other prospects.

Who is suggesting 'Murraying' anything?

Only suggesting not hoarding all the assets.

- kingcong39

I am just saying they need to trade away some assets, we have too many they all wont get rosters spots with the big club. We can afford to trade some of them away and draft picks for that matter.

As we watch with excitement as pick 27 comes up and then the Bills trade out and we wait for the Friday night anticipation to start.

Ostlund puts on 15lbs he might be the best out of the 3, he has those skills.
