Mitts gets extended this offseason.

5 years near 28 million. 5.4ish a year.

He proved his worth right in front of your tv set.
Guys the definition of "vibes guy"

Fine if they decide that, just see him a 2LW and now your top 6 is even more crowded in the future.

Extending him and keeping all your top F prospects makes no sense to me.

I coud see him going back to college if he doesn't like the offers or teams ( Grass isn't always greener)
- gerbe75pts

whatever at this point... Hopefully they can recoup something for him. but that's two picks we have wasted on collage players in the last couple years. the goalie doesn't really seem like it was not a miss though.. I suspect Ryan's not going to turn into much either if he is afraid of competing.

The value of the pick decreased each season he didn't sign in Buffalo, like Portillo and others, the constant is poor asset management. The Sabres brass held a 1st round pick/prospect for 4 years while allowing it to depreciate to a 2nd round draft pick and wasting time/resources and potential NHL calibers players were ignored to allow him to make the team.

Adams is not a deal maker - he sounds like a motivator only.

Yes he signed Botts players to long term team friendly deals, but there are more misses than hits.

Portillo was drafted in the 3rd, Adams got a 3rd back from LA

Hes stil eligible for hockey but I'll give that a 5% chance if he doesn't like the teams

His MBA and senior league hockey. All joking aside, you're right, his NCAA eligibility is over

Imagine he has an extra covid year. No idea why he'd want to use it.

No idea what would improve a year from now. He's getting an ELC either way.

he's not signing with Buffalo. another kid that is afraid of competition I guess, or would rather play on daddies team. either way a wasted draft pick
- gordong

Or he just doesn’t want to live/play for Buffalo/Rochester?

It’s not everyone’s cup o tee.

The rules allow for him to choose. So be it.

4 years of holding a 3rd round prospect to only end up having a 3rd round draft pick (which will be later than 67 IMO) in the end is a net loss. Waste of 4 years of resources for the Sabres.

You're likely right but a team could open up that wasn't interested .

He went from 2/3 LW to 1 C. Really didn't have any success at 3C last year.

I think he's a 2LW and they should see what Krebs has at 3C. With a system full of C's and 1 year left on his deal, I wouldn't be confident about anything going into the future.

Mitts is a 2LW in my mind, and be a guy who can play up as he showed us he can.

What happened to all those dots we connected for Johnson?

I agree mostly, but most prospects take 3 or 4yrs anyway.

Would you have more respect for Botts if Johnson signs in Seattle?

Johnson has every opportunity to sign his contract

he already burnt a couple bridges with things he wanted but buffalo wasn't going to do it.

It's not a 1st round pick, and 4 years in an organization that needed all the help they could get only to hold and end up with a 2nd is bad management. If I had to spin it I would say they basically traded Johnson for Greenway when the 2nd comes back.

if anyone bursts I hope its Levi if he can do what he did for 6 games this year the sabres are a playoff team without anything else happening. not to mention the sabres would have a star in the making in goal.
- gordong

Levi already burst on the scene 😉

That would be splendid though, could actually make a run past the 1st round if levi lives up to the big game hype.

who in the hell is Johnson to demand anything from Buffalo?? Kid had a golden opportunity to play with a young fast exciting team and play now.

The NHL has to do something to fix this poop. If you get drafted by a NHL team you should at least have to play the 3 years of your ELC or don't play at all.

So we waste a 1st round draft pick and only get a 2nd.. I don't blame the kid, its the rules but man it hurts teams..

Don't worry, people will spin it and say something ridiculous like "Adams actually didn't want Johnson to sign, he wanted the 63rd pick to draft this Euro forward who's 25lbs underweight and won't sniff Rochester until 2025"

Let me make it make sense.

Keep girgs and the KOG line intact.
Keep line 1 the same.
Keep line 2 the same.
Keep mitts at line 3c and 12 at line 3 winger. Add savoie.

Top end prospects learn for 1 more year.
Kulich is 18 that's simple in Rochester for another year.
Oslund stays overseas
Rosen gains weight

Savoie and rousek graduate to the big team.
