4 years of holding a 3rd round prospect to only end up having a 3rd round draft pick (which will be later than 67 IMO) in the end is a net loss. Waste of 4 years of resources for the Sabres.

Don't worry, people will spin it and say something ridiculous like "Adams actually didn't want Johnson to sign, he wanted the 63rd pick to draft this Euro forward who's 25lbs underweight and won't sniff Rochester until 2025"
- sbroads24

Imagine the O'Reilly trade if Tage didn't work out.

Let me make it make sense.

Keep girgs and the KOG line intact.
Keep line 1 the same.
Keep line 2 the same.
Keep mitts at line 3c and 12 at line 3 winger. Add savoie.

Top end prospects learn for 1 more year.
Kulich is 18 that's simple in Rochester for another year.
Oslund stays overseas
Rosen gains weight

Savoie and rousek graduate to the big team.

I can live with Girgs, but resigning Okposo is a massive mistake.

I kinda agree. My hunch though, he resigns....

Going to 35+ games this season, okposo absolutely lost a step from his 21 goal campaign the previous year.

Donnie really uses that duo quite a bit defensively

I get why they would want to have him back but totally agree it would be a massive waste of money and roster spot unless he is signing for league min.

We don't need a Dad on this team at all, people like Tuch, Dahlin and Tage can keep the boys motivated and in line.

I would rather spend 6 large for 4 years on Tyler Bertuzzi

He went from 2/3 LW to 1 C. Really didn't have any success at 3C last year.

I think he's a 2LW and they should see what Krebs has at 3C. With a system full of C's and 1 year left on his deal, I wouldn't be confident about anything going into the future.

- Lunaion

Cause he was playing with a black hole. Once he was away from VO his game took off.

Obviously helped he was with Skinner and Tuch to end the year but given the success there I could see similar success on his own line with the right mates.

Yeah, but he did work out. All pieces aside getting a freak 1C for ROR is a pretty damn good deal. Would anyone still change it?

Sabres roster can go in so many different ways, just upfront:

1st Line:
We saw Skins / Tage / Tuch play lights out offensively with 3 guys have career years. we also saw Granato try Skins / Mitts / Tuch have success while Tage played 2LW with Cozens and Quinn to have 2 scoring lines.
What do they do?
Personally I think keeping Skins/Tage/Tuch is the right move.

Mitts:
the above decision obviously impacts Mitts. Is he a 2LW, 1C or 3C I'd like to see them place Mitts the playmaker with two finishers in Cozens and Quinn who are also defensively responsible. good line to throw against the opponents 1st.

Line 3/Krebs:
I see him as a 3C, but is he a 4C? Can he play a defensively responsible role in 3C. He's also a playmaker with nice passing ability so he needs scoring, 200' wingers. I see Savoie being one eventually, maybe even immediately as a 3RW. Is JJP the LW? do they move JJP as part of a move to bring in a bigger powerforward for L3 or even L2 if Mitts is moved for another piece (2RhD?).

Deadmen Skating:
What are they thinking on Girgs and Okposo? Okposo is older and slower...and unfortunately for Girgensons he is also better than Girgensons. If they consider bringing back one, IMO it would be best served to bring Kyle back.

Jost:
I like the guy, but it would be great if he was better at faceoffs...yes they matter, just ask the Lightning. A solid FO artist at 4C who can play up for a bit as needed and kill penalties would be great. After 6 years and being sub 40% isn't great Joe. On the positive, he did outscore that Beast Girgensons by 22% in 21 less games, lol.

Greenway:
He certainly disappointed upon arriving here, but he played better the last several games of the season. Are they that invested in him to try to make him into something he hasn't shown most recently---a consistent power forward with some upside scoring potential? He has had 3 seasons of close to 30 pts and some physicality with 95, 87, 150 hit seasons and was on pace to him 145 times this season. he absolutely needs to get back to that style of play ... 15/15/30 with 150+ hits and more takeaways than giveaways. Can he do it?

Yikes jets.

🚨 🚨 🚨 Sources: The #Packers and #Jets have agreed to the mega-trade, sending 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers to the #Jets for major compensation.

Finally!

The deal includes a 2nd rounder this year, a 1st round pick swap this year, and a conditional 1st rounder in 2024[/img]

Amazing what a miracle turnaround for one player can do to make a trade that was looking like possibly one of the worst of all time into a good deal.

I think it was Rivet who said Tage did what Eichel couldn’t do this past season, he put Buffalo on the map for other players.

That's how trades are supposed to work , fair for both teams.

Eichel = tuch, krebs, 1st
Other former 2OA = levi and 1st
Risto = 1st in weaker draft and 2nd

Gotta hit on the picks to win the trades. IMO

Of course, I really dont blame KA on this one.

Kid made his decision, its gotta be about being a #1 or even top pairing nhl player.

Not happening in buffalo. Betting on himself.

Sucks as a fan, tough loop hole.

Sabres are at risk of losing Viljami Marjala's rights this summer as well. Is that a loophole too?

All drafts are unique.

Can't ignore that the NHL drafts undeclared 18 years olds and many of them are never signed.

MLB also drafts undeclared kids and lose their rights when they go back to school. A much tougher environment than the NHL.
