This is the one I look for as the primary reason a player has dropped out of the 1st round:

Everything checks out but they’ve been labeled as having a skating issue

It's how players like Brayden Point and Jason Robertson end up being drafted outside the 1st round.

I'd rather have to work on a players skating ability when they have all the other skills and a history of production then have to help them improve their skills or wonder why they don't produce.

The tangible a team can fix with development.
The intangibles are far more difficult.
Specific to skating, there are plenty of examples of players who improved in that area to go on and have nice careers. The intangibles also help those players achieve success in their development opportunities.

Do you picture Olofsson as a player that either of the Hurricanes or Islanders would have any interest in?

He doesn't seem to fit those teams style of play at all.

There is 31 other teams, not 2.

Did somebody say Olofsson as the consolation prize?

No, but he would be near the top in scoring for Carolina and not far of for the Islanders.

Some teams will believe they have the structure and complimentary players to overcome the shortfalls of a purely offensive player.
He had 1 more goal than DeBrincat (far less A however).

Teams who need goal scoring and to improve their PP are prime candidates.

They had 3 first round picks last year. The defensive and top 2 offensive rookie of the years no questions asked. They’re team is set up for plug and play Rodgers will be great and you’ll forgot what you said. That team is nasty and scary.

So, you're a Jets fan this year? Have you conceded the AFC East to them as well?

Ottawa was not the best fit for Cat IMO. And Olofsson will get moved, Adams could have moved him at the TDL but kept him because of the injury to Tuch. Bad thing is Tuch came back like 5 or 7 days after the TDL.

Olofsson has value to some teams, noted earlier are those who feel they need more scoring and already decent on the defensive side. Not all teams need the same thing.

Buffalo has no trouble scoring, and has a F prospect pool brimming over with talent
, and conversely bare at the D position. Their System is not structurally good defensively at this point. Good thing is several F prospects are good defensively with a strong 2 way game.

He'll have value to someone.

Ricky,

Give me the (frank)in Glengarry leads.

Look at the posters who think Jets adding A-Rod aint no thang, then look at their track record of football takes.

AFC East is going to be tough, tough, tough.

Give me a #12 Jersey from the Jets and Dolphins.

Not a good thing, Jets had a fantastic first 3rnds in last years draft. A-Rod has some weapons and If there Oline can protect him, they are gonna pose a threat. Beane needs to put on his working boots at the Draft and maybe a sneaky trade no one is thinking about.

The Jets if Rodgers is still good have a 1-2 year window.

If Aaron walks away next year, the Jets are in the same position without a first round pick.

As we’ve seen with the Bills, you can have great players everywhere. Unless you have a QB, it won’t matter.

I can imagine a team thinking they can get the good VO more frequently, but 1 year @ 4.75m will limit the interest. Are they willing to retain? If a buyout is a reasonable option, shouldn't you be willing to retain?

Maybe, doesn't take away the fact they could be a threat those 2 years or even 1.

Nearly every trade scenario I have suggested had the 50% retained note attached.
Yes, yes they should...the value is key, not Pegula's money.

Well the Value should be, but seems like the money has been winning out.

Only one QB has ever had success after age 40. Tom Brady.

Drew Brees could barely get to 3000 yards a season after age 40.

I’d imagine Rodgers goes the Brees route than the Brady.

Id also like to think if Rodgers is still an elite level QB GB doesn’t move him and take on a 90 mil dead cap.

The Bills handled the Pack pretty easily last year with Rodgers. Outside of a massive implosion from the offense in the second half.

Until the Jets prove me wrong, I won’t consider them a true threat.

As a business, I can't blame them too much...dismal attendance driving revenues to the floor in a ticket driven revenue business.
Now, of course they brought alot of that on themselves for sure...but Covid also had an impact.
Hopefully for the well-being of the franchise, their play next season drives significantly more attendance to loosen the purse strings.

Unfortunately, the timing here is just terrible. If we know they need to move him, so does every GM. I'll be impressed if they get value here. I don't think a buyout is out of question.

Rumor is they tried to trade him last offseason and he had very little value then. Even less now.

My guess is retaining a good chunk and getting a 3rd back

Makes sense. 2 year deal screamed that they didn't see a big future for him here.

I think a big obstacle might be getting asked to take bad salary back.
