It took Chevy 4 season to make his first BIG move trading Evander Kane. He has made perhaps 4 BIG moves overall. 1. Trading Kane, 2. Trading for Stastny, 3. Trading Trouba, and 4. Trading Laine. Please let me know if I missed one.

So on average he makes 1 BIG move every 3 years. And, you are expecting him to make 3-4 of these this offseason? I don’t see it happening.

Why do you think Chipman hasn’t fired him yet?

If Chevy is this genius you speak of, why has he not left the Jets because of micromanagement? It seems that he has 0 confidence in his own ability and would rather settle for job security rather than go out and show the hockey world what he’s capable of.

Ultimate, I was asking a serious question. I don’t think Chevy is a genius and I do think he should be fired by now. It’s time
But I’m honestly asking. If it’s so obvious to everyone. Why won’t Chipman do it? My guess which is just a guess is that Chipman is that Chipman has final say on all decisions and likes having Chevy out front taking the blame for it and doing exactly what he tells him.

I was just curious what your un sarcastic take on Chipman was. How much blame do you feel the boss should be getting.

Trading Pionk for, say, Garland and replacing him next to Dillon with Heinola immediately fixes 2 problems. That’s your blueline sorted.

Ditch Wheeler, Appleton, and all the UFAs.
Lowry and Gus should be the only returning bottom 6 guys.

Run Garland with 81 and 55. Put 91 between 62 and 27. Profit.

Chipman should have final say on any major decisions, it's his money.
Somehow, I doubt that Chevy comes to him with a good idea and Chipman overrules him very often.

So you are extending 55? Cause no way can he come back as a pending UFA.
I’d rather trade him than re up him TBO.
But I agree with everything else

I am also asking a serious question. But it does seem like you are in agreement with me about Chevy needing to go. I guess Chipman likes Chevy and appreciates mediocrity.

The team's mid-late season performance did him in.

Reduced recognition for NHL awards and sponsorship opportunities when playing for a small market team in the western conference is something every free agent needs to be aware of when choosing where to play. It can easily mean 10million dollars less career and post-career earnings.

Deadline deal. Need to distance from the end of the season. His rep won’t be good around the league, and we’ll probably sell low on PLD as is

What would you all expect in a package for Hellebuyck? Or do you even expect he would be available?

Usually the purpose of trading for a starting goalie is to improve the current roster. I'm certain even the most retarded GMs are looking to trade futures and/or other positional players for a goalie like Hellebuyck. Why would a team trade a likely much cheaper "good young goalie" for an expensive 30 year good goalie potential rental?

champagne taste on a beer budget? if you don't like the price shop somewhere else. If the GMs can agree on a price they often will let the other club talk to the player about extending contract in advance, probably this would apply in this circumstance.

for a 'good young goalie' you are getting 60 games a year of vezina calibre goaltending. make no mistake that the Jets wouldn't have been near the playoffs since 2018 without him. Jets would be getting a prospect tender with an undefined ceiling who may never perform like a starter is expected.

Depends....do you want to win the Cup before Crosby/Malkin/Letang all start collecting pension ?

It's utterly retarded because teams with good young goalies (MIN, DAL, NYI, NYR), would have absolutely zero interest in trading them for another older good goalie. Keeping consistent with your analogy, it's like going to a beer only store and then wondering why there is no wine selection. The teams that would be willingly to trade for a goalie like Hellebuyck, don't have good young goalies. Otherwise they wouldn't want to trade for Hellebuyck in the first place. Which is why futures/other positional roster players would be the ask. Bc even though most NHL GMs are retards, even they are not this retarded.

You too can have 25 games of Vlad Namestnikov for the low, low cost of Mikey Nee Mexico (and you pay half his salary) AND a 4th round pick!

Anyway, 2 year deal in Tampa for our latest evaluation mistake

If I owned the team they would have been rebuilding already. I understand why ownership wants to keep them at pretender status and the expectation is they go for a quality goaltender. Hellebuyck is about the only one I can see as a potential target and a definite improvement as most goalies are way too inconsistent or have sucked for years (Gibson).

the teams you listed don't have good young goalies, they are established stars. Helly is an upgrade on almost all of them, but to your point - those teams would not trade for Helly.

Gibson may have a resurgence in him. He was a helluva goalie a few years ago. The team in front of him has been awful for about that long. Crosby would be the guy to bring out the best in him.
