I dont think PLD's value has tanked at all. all his agent said was that Montreal was "ONE" of the teams he'd like to play for. there are plenty of reports suggesting PLD would also love to play in New York or Cali.
I still think the Habs are the favorite for him but watch out for the Rangers!!!
they have the pieces to make a deal!!! they already can not afford to lock up all their soon to be RFA's ( laf, Kakko, Miller and Schneider ) they still have a first rounder for this year and they have a goalie prospect in Dylan Garand they do not need that interests me. Rangers could make an offer WITHOUT THE FIRST ROUNDER. |

Where you are getting the 20th overall from? PIT missed the postseason. Their current 1st will be 4-14 overall based on the lottery.

Hellebuyck is superb. However, I'd ask for some frame of reference where a goalie trade brought back three prime assets? - jfkst1
I was looking at it as a 2024 draft pick, not 2023. Obviously the 2023 pick has more value.

Maybe but Zibanejad, Trocheck and Chytil are all signed long term, not sure I see the Rangers need for Dubois. |

Well no none of these guys are garbage and no one said they were but theres factors that will probably lower their values.
-Dubois value was tanked by his agents comments and the persistent rumors of him wanting to go to Montreal, whether he gets traded to the Habs or another team I think the return will be the same
-Scheifele has glaring defensive issues and needs an attitude adjustment which surely the rest of the league can see which along with his age+contract status likely lowers his value
-As for Helle well there's a first for everything but goalies typically don't get monstrous trade returns and at his age Idk who's going to want to get involved in a bidding war to hand out a monstrous contract to a 31 year old tender to justify their trade investment
If the Jets can get a Fiala type return for each of 55, 80 and 37 that'd be great though I'm not sure they'll be getting A-prospects. - JetFuel
First of let me say I hear you, and you may be right. I just think we are selling different products.
PLD - you're selling a player tanked by agent's comments re Montreal; I'm selling a 25 yr old gritty 200-ft player who topped out at 63 pts this year with more to come. I've heard it said some SC hopeful teams would go heavily in on PLD even just for 1 year
Scheifele - you're selling a player with glaring defensive issues plus needing an attitude adjustment; I'm selling a just turning 30 year old player in his prime who had 42 goals this season, can play on top two lines on any team in league, has averaged almost a pt per game in his career, and would flourish on a defensive team, where there would likely be fresh attitude. Can't win without scoring.
Hellebuyck - you're selling a 31-yr old goalie, and goalies don't typically get huge returns; I'm selling a 30-yr-old goalie in his prime and has been/and still is a top-5 tender in the league. He is not your typical goalie on the market. I think teams like LA, ED, TOR, Car, NJ and VEGAS would go to war for him - and sign him to a 5/6 year contract at #8-$9 mill a season.
So as I said previously, I basically expect to average a player, prospect and pick for all three of these players. Of course that varies with the quality of said players or prospects. You expect less understandably.
And I may be totally put to lunch, Lord knows I have been wrong so many numerous times in my life. And may be again! And if I'm wrong, I will admit it here to you.
All that being said, I do appreciate your comments on this - it is mice to hear someone else's perspective. Keep the words coming!

But perhaps Chytil and d-man Schneider for PLD (probably need extension first)?
The Rangers could use an upgrade at C.

Rangers need defense and winger depth first before they upgrade their centers. Zibanejad and Trocheck have full NMCs so they can't be moved. Chytil is a good value cost controlled contract that I would bet money they wouldn't trade straight up for expiring RFA Dubois. Much less adding anything else valuable like Schneider. They have cap issues with many aging players on long term NMCs/NTCs contracts. |

yes but get Garand included!! this frees us up to trade Helle and Shief to the highest bidder with the highest ceiling young prospect player coming back plus whatever else.
this would truly be an ideal scenario!! getting a goalie prospect, young roster C and D from the rangers, takes so much pressure off what comes back in other deals. |

i dont agree they need D or wingers? Wingers are the easiest position to fill in NHL. plus, Trocheck could be moved to the wing. I'm also assuming PLD signs extension there. this whole narrative of he is only signing long term in Montreal is BS. He has said there are other places he could see himself staying long term, new York being one of them. |

Eyssimont , while better than Kuhlman, is at best a 4th liner on any team.
Helly is a Top 5 NHL goalie at the moment....BUT.....he is a Junior B goalie when it comes to handling the puck.
Harkins needs to be a Jet next year and the Jets need Harkins.
Jets should invite Connor McClennon to camp next season.
If the Jets were a contending team, players would come here to play. They go to Edmonton, don't they ?

Well the Rangers are lucky here. We can help them.
We can add in a winger (Appleton?) and sacrifice a d-man (Stanley or Chisholm?) and they add prospect Garand - and we have a deal??
Who gets Bedard tonight? I say either the Ducks or Sharks. The West Coast needs another superstar doesn't it? |

Helly has improved his puck handling dramatically in the past 3 years. I don't recall a single giveaway this past season and the puck often went to jets players with time to make a play. I've said it before but i am predicting that next year Helly scores a goal.

Eyssimont - Agree - 4th line or AHL on most teams. Like his spunk though, maybe late bloomer?
Helle - thought this was his best year at moving the puck, much improved
Harkins? Doubt he will be a Jet next year, but who knows? Part of trades?
Connor McClemnon? Who the hell is that?
Jets contending team? Players would come - well it certainly would help - think that''s why Stastny came the first time. Others might do the same.

Thought that Helly was better than in the past, but also must have had orders not to handle it very often.
McClennon - at the very worst, he would be a potentially good Moose player. |

Gawanke is gone, signed a 4 year deal in Germany.
Some development plan this organization has. |

Except we were a contending team for years and yet the players not willing to waive still far out numbered the one Stastny who did.
Regardless though, I’m tired of this argument!!! Who cares, we can’t do anything about it. We need to move on |

One thing is that it's going to be a VERY interesting summer in Jet land!
I'm expecting PLD, Scheif, Helle and maybe Wheeler, Appleton, Pionk and Schmidt - to be dealt at some point before the start of next season.
Right now the main two are PLD and Helle, aren't they?
I believe PLD could be extended and dealt before the draft, is that correct? That would be huge. It would also be nice to get the goal-tending situation settled ASAP.
Thinking Scheifele (and some of the rest) would be after July 1 due to their UFA season kicking in (teams can then re-sign and trade). But not sure if that is right either?
I would believe LA, ED, TOR?, MON, OTT, NYR, NJ, BOS and CAR to be our main trading partners. Don't see us trading within our division. |

We need to take the best offers. I’ve never understood the, dont trade in your division argument. If someone in your division is making you the best offer that you feel is the best choice for your franchise, why pass that up? |

While I’m all for selling whatever angle you need to sell to get maximum value… Dubois has never been even an average defensive player. He’s as one way as Scheifele, he just gets away with it because Scheifele used to be a horse before he pissed us all off and Dubois has always been the same player. |
