Vegas: Eichel, Stephenson and Karlsson. Mark Stone like Panarin and Kane is unique for the fact that he plays like a center on the wing.

Dallas: Pavelkski, Hintz and Seguin. Pavelski and Hintz were on a PPG clip this past year.

Florida: Barkov and Verhaeghe, Reinhardt and Bennet. Barkov and Verhaeghe are essentially PPG centers. The other 2 performed extremely well.

Carolina: Aho and Necas both were essentially PPG centers. Kotkaniemi was one of the best 5v5 points per 60 in the NHL. And let’s not forget about Seth Jarvis.

Looking at the Jets we have nothing close to that. After 55 and 80, we are very weak compared to these teams at center.

Since lowry was better than both 55 and 80 in the playoffs it’s looks even worse. But Toronto and Edmonton loved their Center depth and it couldn’t get them out of round 2.

Pavelski, Verhaege, Reinhart, and Necas have all almost exclusively played wing for their current teams. If they add up in total to 10 games worth of ice time at centre in the last 2 seasons, I would be shocked

Awww man, I guess the television guys lied to me. How was his possession numbers?

Necas 71 points in 82 games.
Aho 67 points in 75 games.

Both guys are close enough to .9 points per game. Aho for the most part has been a PPG player. Necas had a massive jump in production this year.

If Carolina weren't missing Pacioretty Teravainen and Svechnikov I would have picked them to win it all. Defensively they are by far the best team in the league. Not sure their forwards can score enough and their goaltending is only average. Their team defense is absolutely stellar. Best I've seen in years. Teravainen should be back this series for them at least. Impressive they have made it this far with such a depleted lineup from injuries.

True Edmonton and Toronto could not get out. It though does not dispel the notion that the eventual Stanley Cup champion will have great Center depth. Since the redline was removed only the Chicago Blackhawks have won the cup without great center depth.

Those are the last two players you would ever want to get rid of.

Morrissey skates well enough to be a top-end defenseman for the next 10 years. He is low maintenance and intelligent. Lowry is intelligent, low maintenance, competes hard, physical. His career could last another 10 years at a signicant level with a graceful decline as it has never depended on quickness or speed. 10 years of contribution is plenty long enough for a rebuild and that type of player is needed to create the environment for a prospect to have the best chance to reach thier ceiling.

These two will have similar value for the next 5 years.
