Pronman's first mock. He's been pretty good at this over the years. If he doesn't nail the pick, he also explains a few other guys the Sabres would like had they been available.
https://theathletic.com/4...connor-bedard-blackhawks/
Here he missed his players, but called out they were interested in both Kasper and Savoie at 9 and Ostlund at 16. Rumors were very heavy that had they gotten the Ottawa pick, we'd be selecting Kasper and Savoie.

Yeah Kasper savoie and kulich would’ve been nice. Oslund still isn’t a bad pick any means

Is John Gibson out of the ? now. Guy over on CapFriendly is is offering Gibson and Hellenson for the 13th pick. Seems like a lot with Levi here, but Hellenson is a pretty good RD prospect. Fills 2 needs with 1 pick, but I just don't know.
Was thinking and this is Hypothetical!!
Buffalo- Gibson Hellenson Colorado 2nd 2023
Anaheim- 13th and LA 3rd
We would lose are 1st, but have 3 2nds - Buff36
Gibson is an interesting discussion...his Contract Cap Hit of $6.4m for 3 years is the biggest deterrent IMO.
Especially in year 3, and more so if they are dumb enough to extend Okposso or Girgenson, or god forbid both for 2 or 3 seasons.
His basic stats are very unimpressive, but when one considers the Team in front of him the picture changes a bit. Oot of 37 Goalies who have played 1,200 TOI (20 games) he ranks as follows:
-1st in HD Scoring Chances Against per 60 (highest number of typically the most difficult shots to stop
-18th in HD Save % per 60 (Avg)
-2nd closest Goal Against distance (from in tight)
- 31st in GSAA / 60 (should save more)
they could do worse, but oh boy that Contract is expensive. |

I would rather sign MAF or Varlamov, cheaper and frankly better. MAF would be perfect for 2 years... |

Yeah I agree, I was just thinking with Levi on his ELC for 2yrs of Gibsons Contract you are Basically paying 2 solid Goalie's what 3.6m apiece. Basically Good Backup money for 2 starters. |

Gibson is still not as good as vaslevsky.
That's crazy talk.
We have a #1 rookie phenom in net, why bring in some old overpaid washed up guy?
Seems very unlikely that a small market budget team goes out and takes on 6+ million for a backup goalie. |

It's not just Gibson, you are getting a good Physical RD prospect in Hellenson to. |

Ya, your logic isn't wrong by any means.
Year 3 when Levi's new Contract kicks in is when it becomes problematic for a then more of a backup
Year 2 could be tight with Extensions to Mitts, Dahlin, Power, and other youngins...especially if they bring in upgrades to the D.
I think I would want younger and cheaper as someone just posted.
Just my thoughts. |

Just an opinion, but I wouldnt want anything to do with paying a washed up goalie 6+ million per year to back up our savior.
Just makes 0 sense.
The Sabres aren't gonna trade for some terrible contract, IMO. They pride themselves in signing players cheap. |

I agree, I was thinking Hellenson especially if Reinbacher is gone at 13. Could be a better version of Samuelsson for Power. |

Appreciate the opinion. No way the Sabres trade for gibson.
A couple years ago prior to vaslevsky bringing the bolts to 3 straight stanley cups. Gibson wasnt good, and continues to be in a different stratosphere.

We would have been in the playoffs if Gibson was are goaltender, especially if it was close to his career numbers. |

No, but I want to see the liberal left tactic of changing what was actually said as though its was gospel.
Should be entertaining. |

all those people that said on this site that the punt god was guilty, has been strangely quiet when I posted the link that he was not even on the property when the "rape" occurred

That's not factual. It's a guess.
We also would be upset about levi heading back to college and leaving as a free agent.
No way would he sign here with a 6 or 7 million $ goalie as the starter for 3 or 4 years IMO.
Wonder how Murray would have done?

You definitely " were" saying that.
Now your falling in line with common sense.
Could I ask you a % of you seeing the Sabres pull off a trade for gibson?
I'm at 0%. No chance , were a budget team.
If your just bs'ing in may, sure good topic.... |

top 5 gm is about to become the first gm in the modern era to get a compensatory pick for being unable to sign a first round draft pick

Well we didn't have to worry about that did we. And seem to remember Levi saying after he signed that he wants to compete and play against the best. So bringing in someone to compete against is what He wants. |
