Well I guess I should be slapping $200 on Seattle then to win the cup.
Someone forgot to tell Brandon Montour and Sam Reinahrt that they lack grit, size, and playoff experience.
Special teams and goaltending gentleman. There are outliers, sure. But show me all the teams that won a playoff series, and I’ll show you the team that got the better goaltending and better special teams. - Swedish_Jesus
Yeah good point. What happened to Florida last year when they came in as the favorites out of the East with little experience and got punched in the mouth?
They seemed better prepared this year I guess
If you don’t think the game changes and players need experience to adjust in the postseason you just don’t watch playoff hockey.
The Sabres style of play would get trounced in 4/5 games if they failed to adjust |

Ok, question for the masses. Based on what you’ve seen so far in the playoffs, are there any players the Sabres should target in the offseason? - Gr8daygo
I would love to see the Sabres Sign Tyler Bertuzzi for starters.. I think he would score 30 on this team... |
|
|
|
If they were smart they would trade Artemi Panarin - gerbe75pts
They might find it difficult to flip him with 3yr/11.6M and a NMC. |

Winnipeg Jets - 41% PP and Connor Hellebyuck. Out in 5 games
Bruins had the best special teams in the NHL and the Vezina runaway - out in first round.

Jack Eichel looked just fine Round 1.
ROR won a Conn Smythe in St.Louis with what playoff experience in Buffalo ?
At the end of the day it is hockey. Are the stakes higher and do the refs swallow their whistles in some instances ? Sure.
Still hockey.
Talk about size, grit, leadership, playoff experience all you want, a majority of it is overvalued and spoken like gospel.
The Leafs didn’t beat Tampa cause of 7 years of playoff exits, they beat Tampa because their best players finally showed up, they won the special teams battle, and Samsonov outplayed Vasy.

So it was fantastic, literally the best tandem by far in the NHL for 82 straight games and then nothing at all changed they just fell apart as soon as the playoffs started even though nothing at all changes when the playoffs roll around. Horrible timing. Crazy coincidence
I notice you didn't use Ullmark in your ROR/Eichel examples of playoff experience not mattering |

He played through an injury. They're up 3-1 and instead of going to Swayman then, they play Ullmark whos not 100% and then ride Swayman in game 7. Talk about horrible strategy.

Didn’t use playoff experience when talking about Vasy not performing well either.
How about Point, Stammer, Kucherov, Hedman ?
It’s a load of crap my guy.
You want to treat it like gospel, by all means.

Also, Eichel was absolutely dreadful in game 1 and looked totally lost. He had 1 great game out of 5 |

No, I don’t. I just don’t totally ignore it and pretend that everything is so cut and dry like you do.
The Tampa Bay Lightning won their 2nd cup and made the finals last year based on the experience they had and being able to adapt their style of play. They weren’t the quote unquote best team of the postseason either year. |

I don’t ignore it, I give it the right amount of consideration.
I am being petty because the Sabres were New Jersey lite this year and with a few tweaks they are more than ok.
For months I read about how the Sabres need more size and grit yet Carolina and New Jersey are playing each other in the 2nd round of the playoffs despite having next to nothing in terms of size and grit.
The Sabres needed Levi to show up a month earlier and a Penalty Kill that wasn’t an abomination.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. Tampa, Boston, Isles, Rangers are in for a world of trouble soon meanwhile the Sabres are entering a 7 year window.
Life is good, especially when you stay away from this place for weeks at a time.

That Trouba hit was clean. Don't skate through the middle of the ice with your head down Timo. |

I don't disagree with this- but were entering "no excuses" summer so we shall see what tweaks they make |

He literally puts his shoulder into his chin, just stop this. Lindy should've sent Mair, Kaleta and Peters out there again once the empty netter went in. |

When you have your head down in the puck skating in the middle of the ice you are liable.
Trouba or whomever the defender may be isn't going to let the guy skate in down the middle of the zone. Peewee lessons |

Nah.
He had one goal in mind. Seek and destroy.
He makes contact shoulder direct to the face.

He just came off the bench... Was the last line of defense. If he doesn't make that hit Timo is skating right into the slot. Hockey 101.
Keep your head up kids. |

What's he suppose to hit him with... his purse?
Like what how can anyone say leading with the shoulder is wrong... EXACTLY what they teach to a T. Sorry Timo has his head in his feet. Keep that thang up |

It’s almost like the regular season means damn near nothing. All that matters is to get in.
Once you get in. Anything happens.
Waiting for the “Bruins would have destroyed Buffalo”
Florida out shot and out chanced Boston.
It’s almost like going coast to coast is damn near impossible and only 1 team has ever done it in all of professional sports. |

You take the Trouba hit out of hockey you might as well have every guy skating with his head down to avoid contact. |
