Caution to the wind 36.

That's funny as 36 is the age Weegar will be at the start of the final year of his new deal that begins next season.

8 team NTL, come on my man have a little confidence we're not on it!

Conversely, Lindholm has no such trade restrictions in his contract, so...

Weegar got his contract due to the GM experiencing PTSD losing Ktachuk and Johnny hockey

How often can you package your 4 most disposable assets to upgrade your team? It's just too clean on the Buffalo side and doesn't seem like what Calgary would want in return.

Boston had 4.5M in overage bonuses. means they start 23-24 at 79M cap. They have about 73M in costs for next season.

With 7F, 6D, 1G

Before Luna yells at me, that 4.5 is technically a cap charge, so really it's more like 77.4M cap hit for next season with 83.5M cap max, leaving Boston with 6M to add 6-7 forwards 1-2 D and 1 G.

I bet they trade one of their goalies. Swayman for UPL, no taksies backsies.

- TheSabresTaco

No yelling. Anything that makes them squirm next year is good for me.

They really played the system a bit with those over 35 bonuses and went all in.

The best teams seem to have at least one, if not several, mid 30s or older defenseman. The question is whether or not he is going to last. Most of these guys are playing big minutes for their respective teams.

Carolina: Burns
Vegas: Martinec and Pietrangelo
Edmonton: Ekholm
Dallas: Damn near everyone is 32+
Seattle: Schultz
Florida: Staal and Gudas
Toronto: Brodie, Giordano, Schenn, Muzzin
Jersey: Smith

Just stated reeding, If this is ever done Pegula better be gassing up the jet to get Hannifin and Lindholm where ever they are in the world.

Term was too much, so the final year or two you're probably not liking...but 6.25M for a shutdown defenseman who will also contribute 40pts regularly isn't that much of an overpayment is it?

I read someone on Sabres Twitter say that they trust Adams more than Beane at this point and I almost fell out of my chair.

Beane has built a yearly contender. Sabres haven't played a god damn playoff game yet.

I mean I forgot Adams was a top 5 GM though

- sbroads24

you have to give Adams some credit, he has drafted well and the few trades he made worked out great.

Lets see how the Sabres do next year with a Goalie that can actually stop the puck.

If we don't stop letting up so many high danger chances, it won't matter at all. We already have two anyways.

It's better then the Peterka for Marcus Pettersson from the Penguins idea.

Ekholm seems like he’s a big addition for Edmonton.

Mark Staal will be replaced next year, but he is better than most think he is at this point in his career. Although slow as hell, he’s been pretty steady throughout the year, and even better down the stretch. Played all 82 games. Safe and stay home, usually doesn’t pinch in foolishly, but he will sneak in occasionally. Fun fact- Staal has been paired with Montour every game this season. He is reliable to stay home and free Montour up to do the things he does. Pleasantly surprised by Staal this season, in all honesty. FL still will upgrade with upcoming cap space, though.
Maybe a minimum salary one year deal as Sabres 7th D/mentor for Power & Co?

Idk about the “shutdown defenseman” part. He’s great at preventing zone entries, but susceptible to mistakes when possession is established. He & Ekblad often ended up scrambling around. Idk what a year playing for Sutter has done for him, though,

His cap hit isn't bad, good hockey player. Will his body last with the style he plays.

Pretty sure the Sabres have their 2023-24 forward core set. Maybe add 1 forward...

Okposo krebs girgensons

*kulich is an easy 2nd year roxhester guy IMO. Very young and could use another year.

Agreed other than I don't think Okposo comes back and Rousek is on that line.

Rousek seems like a lock. 13th forward. I'm pretty sure okposo comes back and plays another season.

Someone offering you million (s) to play in the nhl.

If the Sabres really want him back, he'll be back IMO
