Erik Karlsson, Seth Jones or Colton Parayko:

I would make the pick and be more confident trying to package existing prospects and players and later picks to acquire one of these. The contracts are not friendly on rebuilding teams, might be an opportunity.

I would trade 3OA + to Washington for: John Carlson and Tom Wilson

Seth Jones is on a terrible contract. No thanks

Karolsson plays literally no defense bad contract and old. No thanks

Parayko is on a bad contract and isn’t worth it.

Made in 2024 it’s a good idea not on the actual Sabres

Brett Murray is not an NHL player. Not even remotely close to one. If he’s on the Sabres. That means hell froze over and we are rebuilding again
- Sabretooth9

Murray has gotten better every year, maybe he doesn't make it, but I would not mind seeing him on the 4th line. Got better hands than Girgensons and his 200ft game has improved.

6’5” 230lbs who shows up in big games, I don’t agree with you, brings needed intangibles to the roster.

If the Sabres move up to 3rd, would you make the pick, or consider packaging it in a trade for a D stud partner for Power?
- IonSabres

I would only move pick 3 for a player like Adam Fox

Wonder if the contract situation would lead him to fall in the draft to a spot where a potential trade up makes sense.

Or falls right into our lap at 13.

Why wait 3 years when you can wait 5.

Just continue drafting high and acquire good young prospects. Can never have enough of them.

He's under contract and going to be a very special player in this league

Buffalo doesn't need to rush things so it woud be a perfect spot for him

I mean that’s how the Blackhawks and Penguins combined for 6 cups but who’s counting.

7 cups if you want to include Colorado (Mackinnon, Makar, Rantenen, Landeskog, Byram)

Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec, Alex Holtz are about to have New Jersey in the playoffs for the next decade.

I’ll never understand why people hate tanking, it gives you the highest probability of hitting on elite talent.

You know like Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Dylan Cozens, and Jack Quinn ?

I mean Kucherov was a top 3 talent and fell to pick 58 so crazier things have happened

You think Kucherov is a good comparable to Michkov to try and act like there's a chance he'll fall to 13?

Kucherov is the closest comparable to what Michkov has done at the U18 circuit in Russia.

Now scouts and GM’s aren’t the idiots they used to be back in the day, but I think the Russian factor could play a roll in him falling farther then he should.

Does that mean to pick 13 ? Who knows.

But based on talent he could/should go 2nd overall.

Heck at this time last year people thought he may be the best player in the draft

Have you actually watched him in person? He’s bad. Really bad

Very little skill / hands
Very very poor skater

Adams already said he doesn’t care about hitting

I live a thousand miles away so when they are decent again I will make the trip north to invest in a game

I go by what little I saw from him on tv, and what I read

"He wasn’t just good at throwing punches. Buffalo News sports writer Lance Lysowski thought Murray showed he’d learned to use his blend of size and skill to make high level plays. During another game against the Bruins, the forward forced a turnover when he checked defenseman Charlie McAvoy along the boards, carried the puck into the left circle and passed the puck to Vinnie Hinostroza for a goal.

Sabres coach Don Granato was impressed by Murray’s assist: “There, he made a very confident play” the coach said. “He...hasn’t had a lot of time in the NHL. We’re trying to get him to see himself as an NHL player. And, you know, ‘I own this and I own this.’ And that was a moment that he owned, and he executed and we need him to own more moments.”

getting jost and greenway does no bold well for him since he got no call ups this year though

It’s almost like they’ve already done all that and have all of that in place already and already have a log jam of forwards because we don’t have enough room for all the prospects but let’s continue to draft high and just wait it out.

I get it y’all love prospects more than you love playoffs but hey, that’s for you guys.

Also, please make your mind up about New Jersey you continuously flip-flop on them on they weren’t a cup contender, but they are the best comparable to the Sabres to They are a cup contender. They probably won’t even beat NYR, so please make up your goddamn mind on them.
Should Buffalo tank next year?

The question was what would you do with a top 3 pick. When was the last time a top 3 pick was traded (known at the time, not a future one turned into it). Who would you trade it for. Or just old man yell at the clouds because some (myself included) would take a top prospect like Michkov with it.

My guy, I argued with Pachla for months last year because the Devils were my dark horse pick last year until goaltending ruined that ship.

I also said the only way the Rangers beat the Devils this year is if Vanecek crapped the bed and Shesterkin went hero mode (once Schmid went in they won 4 of 5)

I have never flipped flopped on the Devils. I used New Jersey as an example that a team could have a bad month and still be a cup contender.

Reading comprehension is key.

I like the thought of those 2 players, no doubt, and think you are going down the right path in expanding the trade.
Karlsson at $8m for several years is concerning given pay raises due Dahlin and Power though.
The concept is good, just wouldwant younger and cheaper assets in return for that premium pick in an absolute loaded draft class.

I doubt Tampa would consider it, but I would love to pry Cernak out of there. Problem is there isn't much else in the bottom 6 to expand into that they would include, and they wouldn't trade any of their top 6 (Kilorn is a UFA, probably resigns cheaper to extend his run).
Something like:
Cernak, Colton,
For
'23-3oa, Joker, Bryson
Add on each side as necessary.

Ahhh, someone saw through it!
The Sabres could be the perfect team for that strategy. They could afford to wait given the existing F pipeline and have a gem to mix in on an ELC when costs start to emerge..aligns with a Buyout of Skinner's contract.

I'd consider the Trade route myself but also be very I terested in the above scenario.
