My guy, I argued with Pachla for months last year because the Devils were my dark horse pick last year until goaltending ruined that ship.

I also said the only way the Rangers beat the Devils this year is if Vanecek crapped the bed and Shesterkin went hero mode (once Schmid went in they won 4 of 5)

I have never flipped flopped on the Devils. I used New Jersey as an example that a team could have a bad month and still be a cup contender.

Reading comprehension is key.

Man you love to oversimplify things and pretend you nailed it.

I thought special teams were oober important? Carolina and Florida have combined for 1 PP goal in round 2.

Both 2-0.

If the Sabres are “this years Devils” they’re going to get absolutely run over when they face a balanced, playoff built team like the Canes

What would you offer to acquire Conner Murphy?

Well, been a advocate for him awhile know. Most Hawk fans said before the TDL they would take Philadelphia's 2nd and Bloom. But that's gone, we have Stillman. Think he would waive to, another USNDP player. But he has had a few injuries.

The question was what would you do with a top 3 pick. When was the last time a top 3 pick was traded (known at the time, not a future one turned into it). Who would you trade it for. Or just old man yell at the clouds because some (myself included) would take a top prospect like Michkov with it.

I’d trade it for kings ransom.

So many cap strapped teams.

Brayden point or Sergachev for 3OA?

IMO Going to be tough to make a splash with competing teams in the east.

Doubt teams would give a corner stone players as opposed to buying out or trading a mild asset to move cap on middle guys.

That’s the thing, these scenarios sound great, but also have to have a dance partner

Can see Point but Tampa has a a few young D that could come up. Jack Thompson, Clark Schmidt. They could use a strength to help get a good prospect at 3 which they could probably use with all the Draft Capital they have used. He’s a genius down there in Tampa, he will figure something out.

Lots would disagree but I would rather have the cheap ELC in Matvei instead of point .

The Hurricanes were wire to wire arguably the best team in hockey this year.

Boston and Carolina were tomatoe tomato.

The series isn’t over yet by any means, but losing to Carolina is not by any means something to be ashamed of.

Special teams and goaltending. Carolina has had the upper hand in both so far this series.

Ditto Florida, they have been run over at 5v5 the first two games but their PK has killed off 7/8 PP’s and Bobrovsky has saved 4 goals over expected.

But thank you for proving my point.

2023 1st, Savoie for Elias Pettersson as the core of the trade would seem to pique Vancouver's interest, no?

It could.

Would have to add a ton I’d imagine.

That’s the only player I’d consider moving Savoie for though. He’s gonna be a good one.

Why would Vancover be interested in dealing Pettersson? Is it the expected cost of his contract next season? (Or a. Extension this offseason?
I just don't see the rationale in moving their 24 yo 1C who produced at 1.25 ppg.
They are a young team that reminds me of the Sabres with a young leaky D in front of a G who had an off year because of it.

I would think the trade return would be more aligned with fixing those issues.

5v5 is the Panthers strength. The 7/8 pk was total freaking anomaly/Bob show. Your 2 game stats are pointing you wrong on the Panthers, brother. You haven’t been watching vs Boston or end of season.
In the first round Boston roasted their pk (sometimes in 30 seconds or less, lol). FL beat Boston on the strength of their play 5v5. Their Powerplay is nothing special, either. It was all won at 5v5

Probably, pending on if Van is thinking they wanna compete now still. But that’s a very different proposal than the previous one.

Florida had no business being a 92 point team.

People on here point to Florida as the example of why it’s just “win and get in and anything can happen” but disregard the fact that the Panthers had some brutal injury luck, shot well below expected, and didn’t get goaltending all year for the most part.

On paper Florida was a 100+ point team.

In saying that, The Leafs vastly outplayed Florida in game 2 but fell asleep for 1:30 to start the second period and it costed them the game.

Swap Samsonov and Bobrovsky and we are probably talking about the Leafs being up 2-0 in the series but Florida still having a chance to win this series because they are a damn good hockey club.

Einstein,

Do you think the Leafs would be up 2-0 if you swapped the number of goals they scored with the number of goals Florida scored?

That’s hockey for you.

Degree of randomness in any sport.

Leafs got the bounces in round 1, aren’t getting the bounces through two games in round 2.

Both teams were top 5 in the Eastern Conference this year in terms of talent and you can make an argument for either of them.

Leafs had two power plays in the first five minutes or so, and a quick 2-0 lead. The game was pretty even after it got back to 5v5 and FL started chipping away. They “fell asleep” as FL pounced on them and forced turnovers, and then buried them (while @5v5). Toronto did take it to them as they desperately tried to tie the game later in the second and in the third.
