Sabres can comfortably offer him a 3-4 year ext. I don't think they do the same for Hellebuyck.
- TheSabresTaco

Agree there

Could just flip him(Hellebuyck) down the line when Levi is ready to take over the 60 game load.

step 1. trade for him without the ext. to get him cheaper,
step 2. sign an ext.
Step 3. Levi is ready for 60 games
Step4. Trade and profit

So you have a 30 year old goalie that wants (assuming) to be traded. They know (assuming) he won't re-sign. His value is curbed simply because of that.

Does Winnipeg want to trade him? I highly doubt it. Are their hands being forced? Sounds like it.

And when your hand it forced cough Taylor Hall cough, there's not too much you can do about it.

UPL isn't a spare part and Olofsson replaces Wheeler or Namestnikov.

The name value doesn't match the offer, and that happens all the time in the NHL, like it or not.

- TheSabresTaco

With no trade protection, a rental of his caliber is 1st++ at the TDL. This early, you'd have to imagine it's substantially higher. Closer to a Tkachuk situation than Hall.

UPL is in no man's land now. Not proven in the NHL and no longer waiver exempt. Limits his value significantly. If you don't want to partner him with Levi, he literally is a spare part.

Yeap!

Krebs and a mid pick? Does that do it.

Split the first year 50/32 Helly/Levi

If you can get him and extend him, play him 65 games and stop focusing on Levi.

When does Bradley start? We prefer more frequency, less prosaic, just throw some stuff out there, it doesn't have to be Shakespeare!

RHD, minute eater and can score you 10 goals with 20-25 helpers.

What are the realistic destinations for him:

Vegas
Oilers
NJ

Then:

Red wings
Sabres

IMO it would be out of character for Adams to pull off a move like this with stiff competition and high cost.

Taylor Hall.

Guys been building a team. Just cause he hasn't pulled off a trade for a player of this caliber, I don't see it as out of character.

That being said NJ is the perfect place for him and that Org. No way the Jets would send him to Edmonton.

I thought Taylor Hall signed due to Ralph, or am I mixing up who was responsible for what at a given time...?

Ek isn't the only one saying we have interest in Hellebuyck.

Michael Russo and Erik Duhatschek do too. Russo I know is pretty plugged in.

For 1 year of Helly, at $6.1m, then UFA.
That is high risk depending on the trade return, probably more than I would want to give up.

You'd have to know he's willing to extend. If he is, I'd absolutely be interested. He is what you hope Levi can become.

Seems like a pretty big reversal from KA, so I'd guess this is the typical Sabres interest and isn't serious.

His underlying numbers take a bit of the shine off him..he isn't horrible, but that picture you painted is somewhat misleading as well.
At $6.5m for 2 years is kinda expensive.
Alot of his points, while produced at 5v5; are built on 2nd Assists. Last year his 10 goals was his highest...so he more like a 5 +25-30 / 30-35 range. Blocks a fair amount of shots and hits a fair amount as well.
They could do worse.

If it is true, and I suspect it is, then good on Adams for nosing around and being involved. Exactly what he should be doing in mid-May.
Ultimately, I would think he may be in search of a 1B for 2 years or so for $4m-ish.
I'd be surprised to see him spill that Cap and those assets to get him.
