The Sabres should absolutely pay the PRICE for Hellebuyck if the cost is Mittelstadt and UPL. You'd be insane not to
- Hank Balling

Would you then pay him $8, or $9Bigley ones for '24-'23?

IF Winnipeg blows it up completely (Rumors PLD wants to go to Montreal), What does Morrissey and Helle cost ?

If they had effectively replaced at the least Bryson by the deadline we make the playoffs this year IMO. Forget goaltending. That guy cost us a hand full of games.

Most of the guys you mentioned showed they can play a solid 2-way game. Some showed flashes. Some showed some inconsistency (Cozens). Krebs, Mitts, Quinn all showed some stellar defense by years end. It will come with time and experience but replacing your bottom defensive players at this moment would plug up some glaring holes that sink the ship on their own.

- DirtyDan

Let's be honest, they should have replaced Bryson last off season. Instead, they gave him a big raise.

Yes, and getting rid of Slopokeso would help as well.
As much as I want KA to dump Girgs, I am quite sure he won't

A mistake IMO, but whatever...hopefully he gets pushed to 13F midway through the season

- IonSabres

They either move on from them or they're your 4th line again for the whole year. No chance they would even consider putting either one of those guys in the presser at any point while they're under contract. Okposo only did to survive the season.

Absolutely. Sabres would run the division for 7 years with Hellebuyck and Levi

While that can definitely be true (with correct replacements) the real change comes when the core of this team develops their game into their mid 20s and start playing responsible 2-way hockey. Cozens Mitts Krebs Quinn Peterka, then Savoie Kulich? Add to that our entire top line is average at best in their 2 way game, no wonder our team D is so bad. Those guys need time to develop that side of the game.

It would absolutely help to get a few guys who can play it well.

Go buy Noel Acciari, Jesper Fast or JT Compher.

That becomes very problematic down the road ..year 3 and beyond

Then you trade Connor. Give him a M-NTC for down the road as well so he knows he'll be going to a contender.

He can split time here more to stay healthy for his long career

Sabres move would be finding a 49 year old backup/mentor for Levi. We've been told for 2 years how important that is.

Maybe add mike smith?

I'd be suprised if levi isnt a top 10 goalie starts next season.

They unequivocally love him and project him to start the majority of the games.

I'd love a hellybuck trade, but doesnt seem likely IMO

Upl is fine for 15-20 spot starts.

Can you really love Anderson that much and be fine with UPL as the vet presence with Levi?

I thought Anderson was nonsense last season, and even I have a problem with going with that little experience.

I think Anderson was a unique situation.
Not sure if management is going to replace him with the next oldest or experienced goalie in the league.

They mortgaged last year to lock in levi. You only do that if you believe levi is the savior.

He gets 80% of the starts , book it.

They gave him a look already with volume starts.

How many games do you think levi starts?

If you love and believe in Levi that much, isn't his partner important to you?

You're thinking 66 starts for Levi next year, which would have led the league this season? I'll take the under.

Did you know meditation allows you to physically play more minutes.

What team is going to have one of their ice cleaners take him out during commercial?

Good point. 66 starts seams high .

I like to rephrase and go with 75%ish
Start 3 out of every 4.
60 starts.

Gonna ride this kid, not sure how high on the list a backup goalie really is IMO.
Not with top starter petigree like hellybuck

Good Read!! Starting to get really interesting on where all these pieces fit. Adams has a beavy of assets at his disposal.

That 80% would peg him at 64 Games

Does that sound realistic to you?
It doesn't to me anyway.

I'd say 40, maybe 45

Gotta leave some on the tank for a 1st year player if they get in the PO's.

Absolutely you do it.

Levi is still transitioning into the nhl. He’s not an elite goalie that needs protecting. He still needs time to adjust.

Levi looked good due to basically a much better technically sound goalie but also because UPL and Comrie were really that bad

Levi is the starter IMO

7 guys played that many last year. It would be foolish to plan on more than 50. That's solid 1A territory.

Especially for a kid that probably hasn't played more than 45 in a year.
