Sounds like Neely and Sweeney are done. Unless they're playing it close sounds like dumping Hall is all their moved and they're praying old and older deign us with another season.

Why the do these two still exist in Hockey Ops?

This core does not win. They just don't. Who can be blamed now?
Julien, Chiarelli, Rask, Chara, Cassidy, JFJ, hell even Caron and Wideman are all gone. There are no more scape goats.

Bergeron, Krejci and Marchand are fine players, but in my mind, with so many playoff chokes and embarrassments now they're not great players. They're good, not great. Great players break through and win and these guys don't when it actually means something.

To say it plain. I hope Krejci and Bergeron retire. It's time. This team needs a DNA change and they have opportunities which they most likely won' take to do so.

Ullmark will never be worth as much as he is right now. They're not a cup team and there is no need for 2 #1 goalies. His value could really help. This is a deep draft,
use him to get back into the 1st round.

Carlo and Gryz. What else do we need to see here? Gryz was benched for most of the Florida series for Orlov. They picked up LD with size to address what we already know. Carlo is OK, but If I have to pick Carlo or Orlov, the answer is Orlov,

Noah Hanafin? Noah Thanks. High draft pick who has never been a top 20 defender since he's entered the league. Unless this is a major bargain, pass. No thanks.

Bertuzzi. Should be done July 1, No brainer.

Hathaway. Should be an easy get. Walk away from Nosek. Without Foligno, they need some level of grit. So far it appears that there have been no conversations between the B's and Hathaway.

Orlov. Along with Bertuzzi, should be a priority. There are no centers out there via trade or free agency with PLD picked up by the Kings. You could have and incredible transition game like we saw with all 3 of McAvoy, Lindholm, and Orlov healthy.

As for down the middle? It's Zacha, Coyle, Frederic and Beecher(?) It's not great but it's not overly horrible if you're being honest about where this team is now.

IMO making those moves above can really help jump start a re-tool and keep away from being Philly. Or you can hope that Jack Lemon and Walther Mattheau grace with one more run and run it back with the similar albeit diminished team with no salary to maneuver. Hey why not, it hasn't worked at all since 2011. Pass me that kool-aid!

If they are truly done, this would be the equivalent of Neely and Sweeney being just like almost every other boss in any field out there. They look at their employees after significant turnover and go "do more with less".

Business as usual isnt going to work here. I hope they have more moves to make.

Not sure if it will be today. Maybe more done in the off season. It would be nice to see something else out of that office soon. Hoping to hear the Bert extension post-draft. (I dont think we will see it until then).

Bruins are not likely to make the playoffs if those are the Centers they go with for the season. Definitely should be a rebuild and I'd even be interested to see offers for Marchand.

It would be the wise play to do a rebuild based on their situation. Unfortunately the Jacobs family was pretty clear on not wanting to stomach one.

More Sweeney-style retooling coming our way. Going to be some growing pains with the kids next year that is for sure.

I was literally just reading the tweet that a reunion might be in the works.

Might as well kick tires on Krug and see if Chris Kelly wants to take a break from coaching to do another kick at the can.

If he takes 1M to come play on the 4th line. I'm fine with it. At least it would be entertaining.

That will work out well. Lucic moves with all the grace of a heavy excavator. Legs have definitely been gone for a few years. But he cant be any slower than Foligno was.

The acceleration is certainly about as slow as you can get with Lucic but the effort is still there for the most part. I am shocked that Foligno got 4M. Guess that team is paying for the leadership.

Lucic is still strangely fun to watch. Every single goal i saw him have last year was a him at full speed down the wing going 5 hole.

I guess he has his go-to. They are going to need cheap forwards to fill out the roster. Might as well make it fun.

Sometimes being the only adult in the room has its benefits. I'm assuming that was the only way to get him to stick around and help them get to the floor.

Or have both on the same line. Find another poophead to center them.

They might. Hathaway and Lucic would be a pretty well hated line. They are also losing a lot of veteran leadership this year. Could be a lot of kids playing in the bottom 6 next year. Let Lucic provide some protection. Hathaway is not a protector.

To be honest, one reason they lost that series was that Florida freely took cheap shots after the whistle and the Bruins just took it thinking they were taking the high road. It is hard for me to believe Gudas is taking those liberties if someone like Lucic was sitting on the bench.

Maybe that's not the NHL anymore but the Bruins let themselves get bullied in that series.

Lets make this happen. I want to see a pure poopstarter line. They dont put up points, they just bring the pain.
