Meier knew it was clean.

all of the devils knew it was clean, no one even said a word to trouba after the hit.

it sucks to see happen, but dude was leaning forward as one does when you are skating, but unfortunately for him had his head down and trouba is a big boy and stepped on him, unfortunate but clean even though the first point of contact was his head. trouba did come up high with an elbow or leave his feet. sucks especially because I dislike trouba and like Meier.

regarding carter, hes never been the type of guy to step up and protect anyone, nor is he a physical player what so ever, once you lose your hands, foot speed, and shot, and youre primarily a sniper, well then you have to change your game. I think hes attempted to do that, but just isn't a 4th line guy, and we certainly shouldn't be paying what ever his salary is for a 4th liner. but oh well, hextall can laugh his way back to philly.

Bigger problem is when he's a 4th liner but doesn't get 4th line ice time. If he got 4th liner ice time like he should he'd be less of a liability.

for sure, but I feel like we easily could pay for that role within the league minimum -2M range...

he is still good at faceoffs, if only he could then teleport off the ice after he won or especially lost the draw.

and he shouldn't be allowed on the ice in OT, obviously

It's not about doing "the right thing." No one forced them to offer Carter his contract, and nothing illegal was done. No matter how much he's made, why would he willing walk away from $3 million? That's just an idiotic thing to assume ANYONE would do.

If the Pens wants to, they can:
1) Buy him out
2) Attempt to trade him
3) Waive him to save ~1/3 of his cap hit (assuming no one takes him).

We had this discussion before... I'm not assuming he would walk away from 1.5 mil (after tax). It's what I would do If I realized I couldn't play and I was hurting my team. He was once a great player who likely has more money than he'll ever need, why go out on a sour note? It doesn't help the Pens one bit cap wise because the way Hextall did the contract, but he shouldn't be penciled in for a spot next season.

I don't think the Pens want to embarrass him, but Hextall is gone so you never know.

Because people don't walk away from millions of dollars. It's that simple.

And if you would, you're either lying or insane.

No... My response is you're supposedly the "hockey person" and I'm not, yet you seem to love a lot of players that aren't good. I respect Jeff Carter's career, but he was brutal for most of this year, and he's going to have a repeat performance next year.

I was unaware they "clarified" the rule about head contact, so I guess I'm not a hockey person......whatever.

Funny part is I never said I loved Carter. I just don’t vent all the short comings of the penguins on him therefore I love him. I love Letang as a player. I think Carters potential to help the team was barely even scratched due to a coach who doesn’t have a clue.
