Heartbreaking. Not reading back as I’m sure it’s a whole lot of “I told you sos” by a lot of people here. Wanted to drop in and thank Jan for a great year and share a couple of my thoughts.

1. Panarin should have played his last game as a ranger last night, although that won’t be an easy contract to move. He was worse than invisible all series and was a complete liability. The drop pass leading to a Hughes breakaway last night was the final straw for me.

2. Zib underwhelmed points wise but he was the driving force on his line, played good defense and was unjustly moved from his position on the pp for the last month.

3. The kids and Miller were really concerning this playoffs, especially Laf

4. I’m sure there is a ton of Kane hate on the past few pages. Here’s what I’ll say. We gave up a 2nd and 4th for him. He had 6 points and last night looked like the only forward that wanted to be there. He wasn’t a savior or even really that great, but he was certainly not the issue. The only thing I could pin on him would be being the reason Mika moved spots on the PP but that’s on Gallant, not Kane.

5. On a positive note, Igor was incredible again and I really liked the way Mikkola played down the stretch and in this series.

Why does Gallant have an assistant coach that looks just like him? On the broadcast last night they showed the two of them next to each other and I thought they were brothers.

Was at the game last night, absolutely BRUTAL, gut-wrenching loss. Team was thoroughly outplayed and never recovered from going 0-3 on those first period power play chances.

Just as in boxing, certain fighters have a style that is favorable against another particular fighter, no matter how great the difference is in talent. The Devils were that team for the Rangers.

I don't blame Gallant, but as others have noted here, he may prove to be the "fall guy". Either way, I think Drury is kept.
I don't want Quennville here under ANY circumstances. What the Rangers need above all else is a top notch SKATING COACH! Use the power of the Dolans $$$ and bringing in a skating coach will help next season far more than a new head coach!

I hope that they can find a way to re-sign Mikkola and possibly Tarasenko. I think Goodrow goes in a cap saving trade. The kids played HORRIBLY the entire series. I wouldn't be surprised to see LaFreniere go in a trade ( Montreal? ) and I don't think Motte is brought back either.

Be prepared to see a lot of ELCs on the roster next season, especially if Tarasenko is brought back...

On a non-Rangers note: Thanks Jan for another season of top notch writing. Knowing all of the issues in your personal life that you have shared with us, it never prevented you from covering this team in a first class fashion! Seeing the quality of the other bloggers here makes you stand out even more!

Finally -- Tony: my condolences for your Mom. May you spend as much meaningful time with her as you can. Take solace that you can have some more moments with her and say goodbye in a truly loving way.......

Yall still here eh?

Hey

Disappointing as hell. We've just seen this picture too many times. Name of the game is to outscore your opponent and despite always having a great goalie, our offense has continued to fall short since 1994. I know some of you have that memory which is cool, but I had just turned 7 when they won the cup. I'm looking for something that I can remember now that I'm in my thirties.

I'm trying to determine when my break will start. If Gallant gets fired in the coming days I will hang around to talk about it. If not I think I will see you guys in October.

I will likely still read here and there. But I need some time away to figure out where I'm at going forward.

It could be worse. You could be a flyers fan. A lot of them got AARP eligible before seeing their team hold the cup and the future is not bright.

I would say they'd have the same chance as getting McDavid from the Oilers.

I think that is just as unlikely.
