No I don’t want to trade him, he is untradable. I want to buy him out because his $8m is prohibitive and you can get a reliable replacement for half of that. He threw a helmet and throws a giant hit that isn’t but should be illegal everyone couple of games. That’s literally it.
Hope this helps - picklerick
It does not - stick to criticizing grammar and jokes.

Man what did I do to you? Do we really think Trouba is worth $8m right now? That a much cheaper but dependable, if boring, replacement for him is a crazy or “dumb” thing to even entertain? I hope your day gets better |

Gallant said he leaves the leadership role to the players, Trouba is the closest we have to a leader. No one else has stepped up with the right credential.
Krieder and Zib are talented but quiet.
The other older vets are too new to speak up, or at least they have been.
As for Gallant being gone, I know I am not the only fan here frustrated by the way the team started games. Like they were waiting for the other team to set the tone.
True championship teams decide THEIR game.
As a fan, I blame Gallant for that. |

I feel like you had to understand what I said because you kind of repeated the gist of it but you don’t understand what nuance is so you maybe think I’m saying all hits should be illegal? Idk. I think I really upset a very specific type of person here today and I’m not 100% certain why but I vow to be better |

So here’s the rub. Goodrow is all but gone because he’s paid too much and doesn’t have a full NMC. Trouba, for me, falls into the same category in that he’s paid too much but can’t be traded so would have to be bought out.
None of this means that I wouldn’t want them on this team, just not for the cap hits they’re currently at. It’s impeding our ability to improve the roster (or even fill out the roster at all) |

Take a look at the salary cap situation. There is just over 11mill to fill 8 spots. Now look at the nmc/ntc and tell me how you realistically see goodrow back? And Trouba is not worth 8 million but don't think a buyout is likely. |

12.2m in cap space to...
Resign LAF and Miller
To sign a RW1 and RW2
To bring in a backup goalie
To bring in a LD3
Lets say the Rangers call up Cuylle, Robertson and Domingue/Garand
That leaves us with just under 10m for LAF, Miller and two RW's. |

I think you are being realistic, and not letting your love for a particular player cloud your judgement. And I think we can still appreciate goodrows game whilst also being honest saying he's likely the odd man out. Not sure when those became mutually exclusive 🤔 |

Agree except Kakko has to be RW1 or 2.

Don't think that cap space includes the 610k bonus overage

Many things are mutually exclusive when you’re a person who doesn’t have a firm grasp on nuance or context and are primarily driven by unregulated emotions and knee jerk reactions |

CF has the overages and bonuses calculated into the cap.
Im also calculating the cap at 84m. Theres a lot of chatter about the NHL having a financially successful year and there being a small chance it takes the big jump this year rather than next year. Im saying it doesnt take the big jump but it levels out at 84m. |

I know exactly what you’re saying, the clean hits like the ones on Kharia Mier MacKinnon Nylander Jarvis etc etc etc. you’re saying should be illegal. Unless maybe I’m wrong here, but I think that’s what ur saying |

Ah ok, just thought I read someone say we would have 11.6mill in cap space . Either way it's tight |

Some, not all. They’re causing catastrophic head injuries. That’s more important, to me, than anything else. It also has nothing to do with my preference for buying him out |

That makes sense regarding the cap. Hope it goes up this year, as we'll be in a much better situation next season. I'm hoping cuylle and othmann are ready, but can't just throw them in the lineup for the sake of their cheap cap hit. |

Cuylle yes, Othmann not likely.
The reason why the cap wont make the big leap this year is because of the playoffs. The only big market teams left are Toronto (who might lose) and Edmonton (who will have a tough time). If they both lose in the 2nd round, its going to potentially be the lowest rated Cup playoffs of all time. |

Is Edmonton a big market? Legitimately asking. Or is it the draw from McD |

Its a draw for hockey fans, and yes, McD is a reason for that. Is it a big market? No, but atleast people in Canada will watch.
Imagine a Cup final with whats left if Oilers and Leafs are out? |
