So the Devils speed is what led to the Rangers losing that and the Rangers lack of speed. I don't totally disagree with that. However, I don't think Carolina is a particularly fast team not much more than the Rangers anyway. The difference between the two teams is better coaching. Brindamour knows how to adapt, has a better forecheck system and gets his players to play as a unit. Their forwards are on the Devils defense very quickly not enabling them to use their speed to break out. The Rangers allowed the Devils to get going with speed out of their zone. On the offensive side Carolina crashes the net in the offensive zone causing problems for Vanacek and Scmid proving they arent that good. Rangers never crashed the net to get dirty goals. The Rangers downfall was bad coaching and that's on Gallant and company. Anyway, I've typed too much so I'll go back into obscurity. |

Poor goaltending but even worse discipline with the puck. Bratt's a no-show. Meier is actually dead. Hughes keeps trying to beat Slavin one on one and getting his lunch stolen. - BINGO!
Must be nice... |

the biggest difference in Carolina team we beat last year and the one they have this year is Tony DeAngelo being replaced by Brent Burns |

And a Gostisbehere-Chatfield bottom pair instead of Brendan Smith - Ian Cole
And Paul Stastny as a 4C.
And no (frank)ing hotheads like Domi/Trocheck/Tony trying to get under guys' skin.
And another year of maturity for Aho, Necas, Kotkaniemi... |

That’s saying a lot about burns considering they’re missing svechnikov and teravainen |

He probably should have finished top 10 for the Norris this year. |

Here's a question for those of you that want to trade Panarin. Would you do a Panarin for Mitch Marner swap?
Toronto needs to shake things up. Marner would give us a right wing, opening up a spot in the top 6 for Laf. Similar salaries and point totals. If Panarin were to waive his NMC I would think Toronto would be high on his list. Marner may want to get out of his hometown.
I'm not sure that I love the deal, but thought of it last night and thought it was interesting |

the 4th line was such a disappointment in that series, on top of all the other irritations it gets forgotten a bit

It will obviously never happen. He’s younger, slightly cheaper, better, and Panarin also disappears in the playoffs so that’s a wash |

I just floated it on the toronto blog. Prepared to have my head taken off
They obviously have to do something and I don't think Matthews is the one to go and they can't move Tavares. Nylander has actually been pretty good for them |

100% yes but I think we’d have to add to it. I feel like Panarin if agreed to a deal it wouldn’t be a pressure packed city. Anaheim is place imo. They have young players he can play with and succeed. And get a nice suntan. Oh and Strome
I said I’d do Vatrano and Henrique (to even up the salaries) and then we’d probably get another piece, maybe a few picks. Vatrano was definitely a fit when he was here and very much still would be imo |
