What if we got both Hughes brothers from NJ. Would you do it then? - Hawk4life
Nope ! I really like Bedard everything about the kid that's why I was such a fanatic about the tank . He is a player and I am glad I can cheer for him going forward . |

Lets wave at them. Bedard is a HELL HELL Of a piece, but he alone does not guarantee anything. The Hawks dynasty wasn't just Kane, it was a ton of other great players. Still a lot of work to be done, but there is a glimmer of light shining. - kwolf68
Did you say "glimmer"? Bedard will turn this franchise around for next 15 years... Its not a glimmer...Its much bigger than that....He is a generational talent....Kane is pale in comparison... |

Even with Bedard, next year they could still be a bottom feeder. I won't be greedy and will be happy with #2 next draft. - boilermaker100
The roster is still barren and that's even if KD signs or trades for a player to skate with Bedard. Very good chance they pick top 5 in 2024 but if by some wonderful chance they get #1 or #2 next yr, damn.
Still, a top 5 pick and Bedard might have a 10 yr running mate ala Kane and Toews.

Really? Both are studs. Luke is super young and talented whole his brother just put up 99 points this year. - Hawk4life
I don't think you realize how talented Bedard is. His shot at 17 is NHL elite. Hawks have their Hughes is Korchinski. Plus, Luke comes up short in big games
As talented as Jack Hughes in Bedard will be better, imo. |

wow what a day! So happy we are going to be able to draft a true Superstar. Rebuild moved up a few years for sure. This draft and 22 will be the foundation of a few cups. now i can really watch Bedard Highlights and look forward to him in a Hawks sweater instead of that fricken Pats one.! |

I have to admit thinking about buying a pick em plan now. - BetweenTheDots
My bud took over my seasons. 3rd level, 2 seats, front row on the goal line where the Hawks shoot twice 2 seats off the aisle.
I'm sure he'll be selling some games. PM next yr if interested and I'll give you his info. |

Haha well you are getting warmer but I would be happy I was not making that decision .They are to old now I stick with whatever the plan KD got for the future .Need to build a team around this kid , And manage the cap . |

Can we now please put to rest the whole "they need to have the worst record" nonsense. LR got probably the best he could out of the collection he was given this year. They ended up getting the 1st overall by sheer chance. They could just as easily be in Anaheim's shoes right now.
Let's be happy that they seem to have a good coach in place and a plan to move forward (and extreme luck in getting the 1 OA this year). |

The glimmer yes. Look back at this dynasty teams, there are countless players who played HUGE, PIVOTAL roles at the highest level. Bedard is a generational talent, but he can't do it alone.

Would you all give up Bedard if NJ came calling with both Hughes brothers? - Hawk4life
Connor Bedard is the BEST SHOOTER in the NHL right now.
I haven't seen anybody shoot like this since Bossey.
#43 can player rover, not dee.
I love his tooth missing brother but he cannot shoot like this kid.

He would want too much money for my taste and too much term at this point in a rebuild. I think you could get Domi, cause of LR, at decent AAV and term. Bertuzzi? I am not sure what he would be at. 5-6M? Be fine if the term is 4 years or less in my world. |

Zegras, #2, and next year's #1 for Bedard. Who says no? - mohel
No. Kid looks to be generational and he's perfect for the rebuild not only on the ice but for the organIzation to sell to the masses for yrs and yrs.
But, Babe Ruth and Gretzky were traded so never say never but I'm a big no for trading Bedard. |

One thing I will say is I think the lottery is good for the sport. The Hawks kept trying to win knowing that it would decrease their chances of getting Bedard. But even if they kept trying and maybe won a couple meaningless games, they'd still have a chance, instead of just a team giving away wins totally for a certain player.
The way the Penguins got Mario was scandalous, but in the end completely legal and it got them two Cups. Honestly? I'd have done the same (frank)ing thing. But now that the rules a bit different, it's not as easy or even worth it to pull that kinda poop. |
