wow what a day! So happy we are going to be able to draft a true Superstar. Rebuild moved up a few years for sure. This draft and 22 will be the foundation of a few cups. now i can really watch Bedard Highlights and look forward to him in a Hawks sweater instead of that fricken Pats one.! - SaskHawkFan
Now I get to sleep without thinking about it.
I love that there is entire draft ahead and we got a true star before the thing starts.

What's nice is we have a few dmen in the system since it seems longer for them to develop
Now we get this gift today |

Toews said he had to get well, what if he does, as he qualifies as a leader to learn from.If he feels he truly has gotten better and plays for a discount he fits, doesn't have to move and if it doesn't work out, he fines someway into the coaching staff. |

That’s a no brainer but it’s still good to hear him say it. |

Would Dubois out of Winnipeg be a good fit? - Chunk
Oh yea!! Dubois is built for NHL playoff hockey. Dude will score goals, knock people down, can skate with elite players, can play center or wing and is still just 24 yrs old. I don't wanna trade for him though. Wanna wait until he's a UFA after next season so as not to lose assets.
But for all the jokes about the cap with Bedard's big number in a few yrs the time to start thinking about the 2027 cap is today!!
KD was here for all the cup yrs and saw what cap hell looks like from the inside. Hopin he has a plan to limit the damage as he wins cups. |

Can we now please put to rest the whole "they need to have the worst record" nonsense. LR got probably the best he could out of the collection he was given this year. They ended up getting the 1st overall by sheer chance. They could just as easily be in Anaheim's shoes right now.
Let's be happy that they seem to have a good coach in place and a plan to move forward (and extreme luck in getting the 1 OA this year). - Chunk
LR was able to change the culture, proved he was solid behind the bench, showed he was a player's coach which will attract UFA's AND they got Bedard.
Could not write a better script. |

Still a lot to learn as far as KD but we do know he ain't scared to be bold. He showed that by moving Dach and Dcat within 15 minutes of each other.
Yep, gonna be fun watching him operate with the #1, #19, FOUR 2nds in a deep draft and two 1sts and two 2nd rounders the following two yrs!!
Damn. |

How about Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi on the line with Bedard?
- bjphawkfan
Now, see, these are the types of players to play with Bedard. - Elbows15
Agree 100% as long as they don’t overpay, 4x$5 for Domi and 4x$6 for Bertuzzi will work. Bring up Vlasic and another dman and they’ll be very watchable, but still a lottery team. |

He also said he may look into packaging some picks to move up since they don't have to rely on volume so much. It better be for someone they absolutely are sure about cause they need players and the more the merrier to me
Also. in 1.5 hours after the results were announced the Hawks sold 2.5M in ticket plans including more than 500 full plans. |

I'm a Bertuzzi guy but is he an injury concern, especially now that he's 28? Here are the games he's played since getting to the Bigs. 48, 73, 71, 68 and 50 games?
Not sure if he can stay healthy enough plus Stevie Y moved him. Enough question marks to worry me signing him for big dough with term. |

So much for 5000 fans going to the games
I agree with you, more the merrier in picks for me.
Had a feeling that would happen if they won the lottery, didn't expect it to jump like that though |

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but another benefit of winning the lottery with a clear 1st selection (and especially with so many picks in the top 60) is the amount of research and hours it frees your staff to deep dive options for the lower picks.
Imagine if they were drafting #4 or #5 the amount of energy and time working through different scenarios, deciding if Michkov (sp) is worth the risk, if they should go the safe route, if Smith will have the same results in the nhl? All of that time and research and discussions now be reallocated to the #19 pick (speak it into being) as well as the 2nd rounders, and deciding if the opportunity arises what to pay to move up.
Dividends all around. |
