He is from Northbrook, maybe he kicks the tires in FA. I have to imagine FAs seeing Bedard going to the Blackhawks and all that glorious cap space. - BetweenTheDots
I would like that. I also wouldn’t mind taking a run at some more reasonable UFAs like Killorn, Hathaway, or Perry. They’re all gamers, even though they’re on the wrong side of 30.
It’s still very surreal that we actually are getting Bedard. I had resigned myself to the fourth or fifth pick and a lot of heartache over whether to take Michkov or not. That relief combined with the elation of a great player like Bedard is too much. What a great time to be a fan. |

It's funny because I was actually more excited when Daly flipped over the Sharks at 4 rather than at 1 for the Hawks (which I was in complete disbelief). Exactly the same here, debating between Smith/Michkov.
Button has the Habs passing on Michkov and taking Dvorsky. Michkov falls to 6 to the Yotes. Do they pass and go for a Benson or Moore? Same for the Flyers? The most intriguing aspect of the draft now is how far down Michkov will be drafted.

If the Russian falls to ARI they probably take him, as they have the OTT pick in the 1st round too. |

When I mentioned the Deep Dish, I was implying we send it to him to add some pounds. Deep dish, though I favor double dough from Jim and Pete's in Elmwood Park, is what Chicago is known for. Maybe we send him some sliders? The beef sandwiches from Jonnie's have shrunk since I used to go there. |

Every year someone is in the room with the actual lotto drawing and watches the search through the books of number designbtions to find the matching winner.
It has been done this way after everyone clamored there was conspiracy in the Crosby pick that was not monitored. - wiz1901
Wiz, I get it. But I'm not the Courts, so I don't require 100% certainty. If it smells like something it probably is something. And, I don't care in this case because it worked out for us. Isn't that the old Chicago way? LFG!

Well the start of a new era for your team. The great Toews and Kane years are officially over and you now have a very solid piece to rebuild on . I guess the tank job was worth it. |

Arizona makes the most sense to draft Michkov. They can afford to wait and they can handle the risk of him potentially not coming to North America. |

Thanks. Think Bowman should have cleaned house much earlier, especially when Seabrook and Keith started slowing down but the goal then was one goal- the Cup.
Even if we'd gotten the ability to draft Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson or Smith, I still think the tank would have been worth it. Last year we had a line-up of Kane, Toews, Debrincat, Dach, Strome, Kubalik, Jones, McCabe, Murphy and Fleury and we... we were still the 6th worst team. Now imagine if two teams moved up in the draft and the Hawks ended up with the 5th pick, it would only be one spot better than the pre-tank roster!!! |

Seriously, can’t believe this happened.
I say we trade down and accumulate more draft capital… - Chief4Feathers
We're trading the pick to Carolina. |

Ooh right,the sexual assault scandal.
Good point.
But also, every kid in Canada dreams of wearing that sweater one day. Not sure they dream of wearing the Indian Head.
We'll wait and see I guess. Draft is still a month and a half away!
I'm an idiot for bringing up a "Lindros" situation. - captainserious
I was wondering same heard some rumors before the draft about Bedard would pull a Lindros .And wants to go to Vancouver . Has Bedard spoken as of yet ? |

When most everyone was getting upset about winning games, i thought and said if you try to control destiny it ends up controlling you. I also felt if they didn't win the lotto there's a reason for that as well. Pretty cool that we did.

It will only be worth it if the front office can surround him with a solid team and coach. It looks like they've hit on a pretty good coach. We shall see about the rest of the team, but early signs are positive.

I get it, the only way to add young elite talent is by the draft.
I am not faulting the process at all, it was time to move on. |

Welcome to all you posters from other boards who come to whine about the Beach fiasco. Most of us got over that a year ago because the organization had a major overhaul between now and then, the only ‘bad guy’ left from that is Rocky… and while we don’t like him at all he somehow refuses to step down despite 20 yokels from a hockey board making strident demands.
Most teams have a dark skeleton in their closet:
Rangers and penguins signing convicted pedo Brian Tibbets.
Ducks and antisemitism with Jason Bailey.
Bertuzzi.
Hockey Canada’s WJC scandals.
Derrek Boogard.
The numerous abusive coaches.
Flyers staff getting cancer from toxic substances.
All but one of these pales in comparison to the Beach incident. But the fact is that even the most die hard fans have gotten over the disaster.
Folks coming in here to be petty… your tears are delicious. - ObeseOprah

Tank job comment sounds a lot like whining, went on capfriendly and clicked on Blackhawks salaries and they are playing a video of 2 Vancouver guys crying about the Blackhawks getting the 1st pick, it's great |

Hey Dots as a fan that was pissed at every win especially down the stretch I remember you saying that about destiny and trying to control it and thought that was pretty right on I guess LR was right and play to win every game and build a culture the right way . |

It stems from some Twitter post from one of the many disgruntled people that the Hawks won the draft. I don't think there is any merit behind it. |

I heard Bedard wants to go to Vancouver because he doesn't want to play for a franchise that might sexually assault him and cover it up. Is this true? |
