Still have to be patient and not rush this rebuild stay the course for another year. Maybe add some more vets than what was planned. - scott1977
From the day KD took over, he seemed to have a plan, and stuck to that plan. In doing so, you would have had to "game plan" for a bunch of different scenarios from the start.
Winning the overall #1 and getting Bedard had to be high on that list. I'm betting they already have a plan how they would move forward from here. - vabeachbear
Agree Scott and Vbear, KD had to have had a plan if they landed Bedard and my guess is he'll stick with it. Who knows what that is though but I hope he adds a player to skate with him and Reichel and some muscle too.
Domi looks better than ever. Tough dude who has the feet/skill to skate with Bedard-Reichel. I see Hathaway and Bjugstad are UFA's and can skate a shift, can fight and are big guys. Austin Watson, Lemeiux are UFA's too. |

So if Michkov is available when Montreal’s turn to pick, do you offer the Hawks first next year and a second this year for the right to draft Michkov? |

That would make us a whole lot better quickly. I'd consider it. |

Nah, on second thought, draft BIG players, but let's not invest in protection...our coach can get one already in the league.
I just realized that I forgot that Frankie Nazar is one ion the fastest juniors I have ever seen and he can play wing or centre with him. omigosh!
You build by getting solid attackers who play physical while scoring.
You still need a centre for Reichel or someone better than Reichel with the same type attributes.
I know you are all tired of me saying it, but this draft will be loaded at #19/20, loaded at #44 and loaded later too.
You can get guys who HAVE played on all start teams with him, on lines with him, etc. You can get physicality if it come with a player who is a generator.
I just cannot imagine we start the draft with the best player and STILL can feast on this draft full of main courses. There are so many potential guys who are not there but have so much upside three full.
I am done for tonight!
and next year I am never clicking ion Talkathon ever again! |

Pass, I’d still draft Bedard. It would take a disgustingly good package to get the #1 pick from the Hawks. |

Here is a question to the panel should the hawks try and get dcat back? - Scott1977
No, too early in the rebuild and if their gonna start foolin with cap problems I hope the Hawks can do better for 10 millish a yr.. I see Pierre Luc Dubois is a UFA in 2024/25. Rugged dude with some skill and can play wing or center. |

They are already expecting a season ticket cap at this rate. 24 hours ago it wasn't on the radar. |

How did we get a sniper wit the the next pick?
Wouldn't LhRW Eduard Šalé look good with him? - wiz1901
Think he will fall to 19? I have seen him in the 8-12 range in most rankings. |

Right.
What I'm curious about now is how this affects the lotto for us. We end up in 2-5 next year, that means we can't move up then, right? I'm definitely projecting we end up in the bottom 5 next year even with Bedard. This changes things though as whom KD looks to add. He'll want some talent around Bedard.
Say Toronto or TB bite the dust and our pick moves to the following year. Can we win the lotto if their pick since it's not the Hawks' pick? - Popsghostly
They can move up once more. Moving up for Dach was before the rule change. |

I just hope the Hawks steer clear of Cal Ritchie. I’ve spent two seasons watching him hide in plain sight. |

I have 20 pounds I can donate. It may not include muscle, though.... - mohel
Funny you should mention this. A USHL buddy of mine called from STL and said I need to billet Bedard next yr, get him in the weight room, add 20 lbs of muscle, coach him up and make him the best 3rd liner ever.
I was accused by a Steel player's dad that I never met a 3rd liner I didn't like yrs ago and it stuck to this day........ Truth is, Mr Saar was right. He was a linebacker for Joe Peterno and won a national championship. This guy was a sight to see at games. A 190lb lean powerful looking 6 footer, wore a pea coat and paced like a panther non-stop at games. |

Can only win the lottery twice in a 5 year span, so one more opportunity for the #1 pick in the next 4 years.
The 2024 TB and 2025 TOR picks are top 10 protected. So if they bite the dust and are bottom 10's in those years the picks revert to non protected for the following year. Those picks would be eligible to win the lottery if they are at least bottom 11 at the time since teams can only move up 10 slots. |

I'd agree but Foligno is 35 now and hasn't stayed healthy for a few yrs. I like Hathaway and/or Bjugstad and maybe a Reeves too. Bjugstad IIRC plays center. |

I like Stramel a lot. Big kid with wheels, skills and a bit of an edge. He had an uneven year at Wisconsin as a freshman but the Badgers stunk this season.
