Was out of town this weekend and ran into Red Wing / Sabres / Ranger fans.
They’re hating on the Hawks with their go to being the Beach situation.
I did not disagree with them at all, however, they were unaware of some info. Specifically that the President John McDonogh, was fully briefed and DID NOTHING when presented to him.
Yes, technically it is the Blackhawks organization, however, this falls on one guy, McDonogh. It was he who did the cover up: allowed scum bags name on the cup etc…
I am so PO’D that this guy skates off while everyone else; Q, Bowman, the entire organization, US FANS, have to deal with the continued fallout.
Are there any reporters with any stones to track the POS down and hold his feet to the fire?
This one guy failed the organization and we as fans have to answer. Total POS.
Exhale.

Wiz,
Where to you have Gabriel Perreault going? Is he a possibility at #19? The son of former NHL'er Yanic put up crazy numbers for the USNT this year. 132 points in only 63 games this year. Looked like he put up good numbers for the Swedish national team too a few weeks ago too. I've seen some mock drafts that have him as high as #10, and some that didn't have him in the 1st round. |

Right on cue, Tab Bamford over at Bleacher Nation has an article regarding how the Hawks can move up in the draft. He cites 3 ways this could be done and gives past examples of the cost to move up.
1. Trade a star player for a pick. Ruled out because the Hawks don't have the star power.
2. Package a 2nd or more with a 1st to move up a few slots. Looks possible.
3. Take on some dead money along with a 1st to help a cap strapped team. Also possible.

it looks like Scott Powers, with the help of Wheeler, is doing what we have for the last couple blogs, sorting through possible selections at #19.
Defenseman Tom Willander's climb up the board has occurred based on the recent World Junior Under-18.
He skates really well, understands his position, but honestly to think the Hawks "fill" their RD with a guy who doesn't ooze with dynamic offensive skill over forwards is just too questionable.
Axel Sandin Pelikka is higher risk, but higher reward, but unless there is something cooking to add yesterday another first rounder I cannot see them going defender in the first.
I suspect there will be two parts of the second and third rounds where we fans will see continuous runs of dee-men, as I will illustrate when I finish my update later today. - wiz1901
Hey Wiz,just saw you have Yager dropping all the way to 19.
Just out of curiousity, do you have any contacts in front offices or scouting departments that affect your mocks? Or do you just order the drafts by best player available/team needs? |

I hope the hawks dont overthink this draft. With all the increase ticket sales the entire front office would be fired if they even think about selecting someone other than badard |

Why would you give up assets to move up a couple of spots? Makes zero sense. |

Buffalo wouldn't trade 13 for him. No one would.

I don't see KD chasing any specific player that's when GMs get in trouble.
If a reasonable trade comes up where we move up, great if not 19 is fine or we might even trade back.
I think he's just letting the league know he's open to make a deal, if it helps both clubs.

A month and a half more to speculate. By that time, the Hawks are going to get a first for Tommy Hawk

on the HF board I suggested cal peterson, and turcotte and 2023 2nd for future consideration. Turcottte has health concerns but when healthy he has speed and compete which KD likes. seems fair. most people thought so. Cal probably splits time from CHI and ROCK. coudl also buyout Mzarek possible. |

Ok. This is bugging me and I know it shouldn't.
I have an acquaintance who insists that he heard either an NHL podcast or broadcast that Bedard is going to "pull a Lindros". He babbled something about his family wants him to stay in the west etc.
I can't find anything concrete and I know some of you listen to and read more NHL related stuff then I do so I thought maybe someone here knew what the hell he is referring to.
I'm reasonably sure it's just some clown with no inside info at all speculating or my acquaintance simply misunderstood what was being said.
Anyway, #19, Murphy & Ian Mitchell to Buff. for #13 & #45. They get 2 RH d-men then.

Not saying trading up for a player you really think is better and won't get to you isn't the worst thing to do, I just think after watching all these drafts, the best GMs or the most successful, let the draft come to them.
I'm thinking maybe too much exposure to Ryan Pace.......... |

I would suggest you understand what "pulling a Lindros" means in this collective bargaining agreement before you let it bother you too much.
not the same labor deals as when Lindros came out, which was what 23 years ago, and probably 4 labor agreements ago?

There are a lot of haters out there that have been saying this ever since the Blackhawks won the Draft Lottery....jealousy? Perhaps....but what if it ends up being true?
The Blackhawks can still draft Bedard, it is in their right to do so, and if Bedard refuses to sign with the Blackhawks, then he will be leaving on the table close to $4 million in an ELC plus endorsements for as long as the Blackhawks want to retain his rights until the right trade comes along. Blackhawks are in full rebuild mode and are in no rush, so they hold all the cards IMO. |

That makes sense. I'm sure the owners accounted for that possibly occurring again in subsequent CBA's.

to be clear, I have no idea, just that things are different, and not sure it makes any sense for the player. |

I know it's not the same, but remember the negotiation fiasco between the Maple Leafs and William Nylander back in 2018, when he held out until the very last day to sign and Dubas buckled and paid him what he wanted. |

Completely agree, if there is as much talent as Wiz says there is, they just need to do there homework and be prepared. |

From my very brief research, it looks like the player could sit and wait for two years then re-enter the draft? If a player is not signed after two years, that player can re-enter the draft as long as he is not too old (wouldn't be an issue here).
That said, I would stop even thinking about this happening. |
