Yes, hence the Bradley Center. His wife had/has a lot of money. I have the board games to prove it.
Read on Colorado hockey now that the Avs are going to "sniff around" Toews. |

spoke to someone yesterday who has a good friend in the NHL. he said the players absolutely hate being in Pheonix. the dressing rooms are crap. they can't use any of the fitness gear. wouldn't surprise me if some ask the heck out of that crap hole. and now Bettman is saying they are committed to making it work. i just don't get it? |

I think KD and company will mirror the Bears draft picks.
They will have to be able to skate, athletic the bigger they play the better. Not saying bigger, bigger they play. - BetweenTheDots
So, why do Bears draft picks have to be able to skate? |

I just saw the new Athletic Wheeler article on Axel Sandin Pelikka my favorite defenseman in the draft because of his head feet and power. He looks like he's got lots of Brandon Montour in him. (Monitor is not really 6 foot but is a game changer you can p-lay dee.)
Just as I was saying, you are getting more than underside offense man.
Everybody and their sister has the German kid David Reinbacher ahead of him, and I guess if you ae looking for a big anchor who isn't gonna light lamps he may be a ten year fixture for a team.
Also read part 2 by Mike Doneghey, where he says we don't need a first round right handed defenseman because we will find a left who plays well there.
...and that our goalie stable is full.
and that forwards are the emphasis.
It is not we all had to be brain surgeons or air plane pilots (Where IS he?) to know that, but there is no reason to cross the two other positions off the list when you have the 3rd worst NHL team before the draft.
And tMike Doneghey's idea that "Well, I think I’ve gone on record as saying, after eight or nine, the board could go crazy just based on defensemen because it’s not really a strong defensemen year, per se. So, if there’s three or four defensemen that fall in that range, it could leave a player or two down at 19 that could benefit us."
(Can someone help em and NAME the FOUR defenders going before #19? Is someone's list that dee-heavy?)
The early hockey New might have had Lukas Dragicevic as a possible #18, but not sure. Mckeen's has the two top guys plus the Two Russians going at #18....
So to me, anyway, Mike Doneghey speaking in wishful thinking terms, not reality.
Maybe start looking for a trade partner, b/c Mike Doneghey may be out of his depth.
My board has no defenseman going before until picks 16 and 17, simply because I cannot see the value in any defender going much earlier, but understand that Montreal might want a big anchor back there, or that the luxury of the Red Wings two first rounders (before #19) I also could see Wings taking one at 17 (maybe a pair in the first two...)- Montreal going dee at #5 seems mighty rich but the intel keeps being spread. Detroit might go David Reinbacher even earlier at #9. If Stevie Y takes two defenders in the first is his defense basically redone?
Vancouver screams possible defender at #11, and I believe Philly and even the Capitals might be looking, but the fact remains you don't reach because besides Russians, the rest of the group is on a long development track before they get to the bigs, and no evidence proves any more of them have hurtled in the last half of their seasons and playoffs to a climb to the top 15...there isn't some Kevin Korchinski I am gonna tell is flying up the board...like I did last year.
What there is in terms of dee prospects is a whole kids that didn't explode and pedestal themselves as kids who have stepped up their games...most were close to their resumes at the start of the year with improvement but no qualitative jumps yet.
(I do believe a big group will be selected later and be successful high end pro defenseman after awhile, but we didn't get that "can't miss" vide just yet, b/c they are not that as of now. Some one will get bargains, but the Hawks are going all in at forward. |

Salt Lake or Houston I would agree......they tried Atlanta and it didn't work. I know there is a lot of chatter being pushed by Buccigross and Weekes and about N ATL market but if they want numbers....they go to Salt Lake or Houston.
KC was in the running when the Penguins were playing hardball to get their deal and the city was going to build a stadium right off of 70 by kaufman and arrowhead....but that market isnt' big enough for a NHL franchise. That's a football town, followed by either Mizzou or KU. Only when the royals are VERY good do they draw.....at all. - SteveRain
Atlanta didn't work for different reasons. The first time it was the wrong time and the 2nd had more to do with inept ownership than fan interest which was beginning to take hold at a grass roots level.
The main reason I think it might get another shot comes with a caveat. Any group from Atlanta would have to be African-American owners. Its a huge untapped market for the most part and something along those lines could spark interest in that market.
Atlanta has huge affluence African-American community that continues to grow. It would be bad business to dismiss it out of hand.

Great point on the African American owner. Wonder if they find a sports figure to buy in as well. We shall see.
Just not sure how they realign the conference to balance it out. Every team in the east is the eastern time zone and Columbus and Detroit both female doged about having start times at 1030 locally when they went out west.
At what point does the expansion get too big? They are at 32 teams.....not sure how much bigger than can go.....this is on top of whatever happens to Arizona. |

Edmonton and Toronto and soon to be the Rangers are the next wave of what could have been....teams who should have made a cup final, won a cup, but haven't/didnt....people can spin it however they want...injuries, better teams being a roadblock in front of them league wide and/or conference, salary cap, but man......in each case they are just way too top heavy.
How hilarious will it be if Anderson back stops the Canes to a cup final and/or after people in Toronto roasted him? Outside of 17-18, his numbers were pretty good.
IMO....leafs need to dangle 1 of their top fs and go sell and get a goalie and/or d man back and cap flexibility to fill the one they have buy via UFA (g or D).....but they wont, and the march will continue while their fan base proclaims how great they are in a 5 yr stretch run of regular season games only go choke it away yearly in the spring. Instead they take on all these aging D men and it's a riot to watch. What aging D man is going to come save Toronto this summer and/or season? Can we have a pool because if Dumb@ss is still the GM it's going to happen.

You overlook AZ, Wiz? They have two 1st rd picks and IIRC their first pic is at #6. They may nab Reinbacher at #6.

Wiz, the board can play out so many different ways before 19, but do you think KD would see enough fit in either Honzek or Stenberg?
Specifically, Honzek does not appear to have the level of skating KD professes to want. And with Stenberg, would KD take another undersized top 6 forward on top of Bedard/Nazar/Reichel ? - LetsGoHawks
Take a look for yourself, LGH. See what you think of Honzek's skating especially in open ice where 6ft 5in guys can look gangly. Notice he plays PP and PK too.
Personally, I would not mind a bit if this kid was a Hawk. https://www.youtube.com/w...Y&ab_channel=HSDProspects |

Are you serious? Have you ever actually been to Southeastern Wisconsin? Ever been to Lake Geneva? Or the area around there?
Milwaukee won't happen because it is too close to Wirtz's fiefdom, but it isn't because this ridiculous 'affluency' angle. - SC116
Wisconsin does have pockets of wealthy areas Appleton Lake Geneva to name two. Suburban Milwaukee has some nice areas too. Crime is maybe a concern/growing in Milwaukee area? The AGL and NGL together in Milwaukee- I am doubtful |

Not really small 5'!! now 180
nice article him at the Athletic:

I only know my opinion on him, and he can defend and is excellent on the attack in all ways.
I never have changed my slotting unless I finally think I am
bloated in my opinion....thus so many of my late first are less conventional with what the "other draft experts" thunk...
no everyone has the German first and this kid second...no big.deal...I don't get fired if I am incorrect in an evaluation. |
