huh, hadn't caught that one, and it's more recent.
I hope we'll end up listening to these warnings and do something about it quickly, because regulating this kind of technology and making sure it doesn't fall in the wrong hands is gonna be very complicated. - Pat1993
let's just set AI to regulate AI.

oh whatever, I find he's a terrible spokesperson to represent the sport, I'm aware he works for the owners but it isn't like he couldn't have done any better outside of getting them money.
I don't think he's a "vilain" or whatever, but change would be good right now. - Pat1993
But thats the thing, if most of the owners wanted him gone, he would be gone. The day the owners will get tired of paying $$$ for a team in Arizona that does not seem to work, the team will be no more. If that idea came from him, owners had to back it off. In the end, it not just one guy. Its the owners as a bunch.
But I guess its easier to point the finger at the guy you see on tv than a bunch of rich owners you may not know a much about |

it isn't because I criticize Buttman that I'm saying the owners have been perfect either. both could've contributed in making the league much better.

oh and also I highly doubt there's a team in Arizona because the owners want to, richer teams such as the habs have been paying millions to keep things afloat, Molson can't be happy about that. |

then why did they green light this idea?
its the same with quebec or any issue really. If most of the owners wanted a team there, it would be done. |

then he has been able to convince them of that crap year after year for decades now.
This is on the owners.
hopefully they get move this time around, but I would expect Houston, salt lake or Punta cana to get a god damn team before quebec does |

you're implying that Bettman has no role in this and is completely controlled by the owners, but he has a very calculated lawyer's mindset, he isn't this "evil" being but he isn't simply a puppet either. anyway we disagree, bygones.

thats why I said he had to convinced them. pretty much what a lawyer does in general
but at the end of the day, the owners had to agree with his arguments, year in and year out
he might not be a puppet, but the owners have their own minds and they had to buy his vision as well. Buttman is not their puppet, but the owners are not victims either, held ostage by buttman.

we know NOTHING of the conditions of the US TV deals either. Owners care about profits, ROI/earned value, growth...not what we think if it doesn't impact their bottom line. |

Don't worry about it. I'm sure the powers that be, will realize it is right up there with the other great issues facing man, like over-population, misinformation, and climate change, and move with the same agility and fore-thought to combat AI proliferation, as they have for those issues.

I thought "doomed" was just a more polite way of saying the same thing, but semantics won't really matter once we become slaves of AI, forced to live underground because of irreversible climate changes caused by overpopulation. |
