So there's nothing in between? Like trying to build a competitive team, made the playoffs and missed them over the years, had some successes and failures and realizing your core isn't the one to take you to the cup since it got old and broke down so you rebuild? It's not always black and white. Otherwise what do you call the Leafs? The Oilers? or any team that didn't win the cup but was still competitive.

Personally, I think the rebuild started when Pacioretty got traded. We managed to get plenty of draft picks since then and some of them are slowly becoming pros or started to help the team. Bergevin just slowed things down by still trying to be competitive in the process.

No real organizational cohesiveness with drafting, development and consistency in team structure and training between Montreal and Laval (or any previous AHL locations).

It was like there was 3 silos (Coaching, drafting, management) in Montreal and a completely different set of silos in Laval.

Can't believe we put up with that poop for so long.

HuGo has already earned more trust and optimism in 18 months than the last 30 years combined.

Bergevin just tried to save the money for a nice dinner but also tried to eat said dinner.

And hey, they somehow made it to the SCF... it almost worked.
