meh, to wait for him to get traded to another team and then sign with the habs is an unrealistic scenario imho.
can't wait for this poop to be finally over to be honest. - Pat1993
why is that unrealistic?
if he really wants to sign with Mtl, he would only be a rental for another team. |

because it's still banking on a GM's incompetence who would trade assets for him only to see him walk away for free to sign with the habs. not impossible but it doesn't really make much sense.

that's what a rental is Pat....teams who want to win the cup do it every seasons
the only reasons we are talking about dubois in the first place, is his comments that he wanted to be HAbs. I get the idea to give a little something to the Jets to get him sooner, but Suzuki? Dach? lol. Jets dont have the leverage at this point.
And if dubois is not being honnest with his comments, then we dont need to talk about him anymore. |

According to Murat (Jets Athletic writer)
Dubois has been adamant that he did not go to the 2022 draft in Montreal with the expectation that he would be traded to the Canadiens. That may be true but it doesn’t change Montreal’s interest in the player, the player’s interest in Montreal and the fact that the Jets and Canadiens talked trade multiple times last summer. One version of the discussion I’ve heard says Winnipeg was after Nick Suzuki — a non-starter for Montreal — while the Canadiens tried to build a package around Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson and a first-round pick. I think a package involving Kirby Dach and futures might be a way for the teams to meet in the middle.
Dach and futures.....they really think the Jets have leverage here? - Symba007

then I guess we'll see how badly the jets will get (frank)ed then, it's all good.

If Dubois is unwilling to sign an extension until he is UFA (next summer if he signs his qualifying offer this summer), his value goes down in a trade but there are still teams that will trade for him for one season and hope to convince him to stay.
I am sure HuGo will speak with Brisson and they will have a good idea of what he wants to do and how much he will be looking for.
If MTL is the preferred destination, makes no sense to unload a lot of asset for him |

remember when Ryan Smith said crying he would go back to the Oilers...
all it takes is a big offer from a stupid GM and he will forget pretty fast he wanted to play in MTL |
