Yohe's said the same thing.
Whoops, it was Rossi's article that Yohe tweeted.
More importantly, it's a shame Hextall isn't here because we could have signed Jagr to join the old farts Penguins.
We finally gonna get a JJ jersey retirement?? |

If you decide to hire Dubas, know that you'll need a full rebuild. Your core is in their mid 30's and it's been a slow drip death, the last few years. It should have happened sooner and the core would have garnered you some better players, in return from contending teams. There just isn't enough firepower or defensive acumen to make it to the playoffs and if you did, go far. It's just time. Dubas has worked with younger players and now is the time for a tear down. |

If 50% of your cap can't do poop in the playoffs, you probably should trade all 4 of them. Maybe keep Nylander since he's smooth as butter. The rest? Bums.

I think he is the best choice. I question a lot of Dubas's choices the last few seasons, especially with such a talented roster. |

I’d like Dubas, but something about Tulsky has me wanting him to land the gig. Either way both guys should be motivated to either correct the narrative (Dubas) or prove themselves capable of running a franchise (Tulsky). |

The core isn't going anywhere, and they don't have assets to trade out...so a rebuild by trading away those guys isn't going to happen. Trading those higher picks won't bring in a difference maker, most likely, so it's not very useful to trade them out.
So, the strategy will be about keeping higher picks with aggressive FA signings, and mostly minor trades to tweak the roster. |

Get both. Dubas as PHO and Tulsky’s as GM. Something tells me Chayka is gonna be running our analytics department as an AGM when it’s all said and done too. |

If so I will be joining the org as an analyst and the pens will finally sign Tatar. |

I don't think we would be high on Dubas' list though. I think he will eventually go to a team with a younger core he can build from. Not an old core that he will have to rebuild in a few years. |

I’m with that 100%. My understanding was that Tulsky has more or less been behind the scenes running things while Waddel has been a pseudo POH. If that’s true, idk why Tulsky would leave just to essentially have the same set up. |

Titles matter.
EDIT: also, FSG has said from the jump they’re hiring both a GM and a PHO. Tulsky is deep in the process at this point so obviously there’s something about the situation he finds attractive. |

Working situations matter. If Dubas thinks fsg is a good fit for him, the long run of having job security with an ownership group you’re on the same page as is better than any short run benefit of going to a team with a better roster right now if it’s organizationally a mess. |

As much as I want it, I dont think a Dubas-Tulsky is going to work. Dubas wants full control and I doubt Tulsky is going to leave Carolina to be a GM figurehead.
Plus I think Friedman said Penguins likely hire one guy right now and possibly add to it in the future. I know they've mentioned the style similar to Rutherford with a whole group of Assistant GMs right below him. |

I believe they also mentioned hiring someone as a conduit from front office to coaching staff, probably someone to break down the analytic viewpoint into coach speak if I had to guess lol

Yeah that’s true. But Friedman walked that back a little yesterday, said it isn’t clear cut they hire both roles.
Either way, it’s looking like we’ll end up with a good hire. No matter how it shakes out. |

Do reporters & insiders pay people for info, or is it just “I know a guy who knows a guy”kinda stuff? Never really understood why you would leak info about your own org, unless they want it to be out there. If a buddy works for the pens and tells you something, thats one thing, but to tell reporters is a little different. Obviously a gm search isn’t the nuclear launch codes, but still… |
