Watching the Fla game. I like their jerseys.
But looking up their rosters.
Carolina seems crazy young and pretty cheap deals mostly.
Revisited the thachuk trade. Hubradeau is signed for 8 more years till he’s like 37. Only put up 43 pts….I think the flames fired that gm. Stay away from that guy.

Watching the Panthers make the Stanley cup, it lessens the blow of the Pens missing the playoffs. Absolutely no way they get through Boston, Toronto, and Carolina |

Pens don't beat any of those teams. It's impressive. I was really hoping Carolina would extend it another game or two. The more hockey the better. Vegas probably going to put a stake through Dallas tomorrow. It's a good final though.

I think Florida and Vegas (no offense Dallas) making the Cup is great for the game beyond the good series it will produce. The NHL is a copycat league. When the Kings won in 20212, every team wanted to be physical and big. When the Penguins won in 2016, every team wanted to be fast. Both of these teams were constructed with aggressive management and big trades. Hoping it leads to some excitement this offseason.

While your chances of being right here are obviously good there's an awful lot of moving parts and factors at play every single game and series in playoffs. You just have have no f'n way of knowing that for sure. Panthers went 6-6 in their last 12 games, including a 4 game losing streak, and needed the Pens to lose just to make it in. NO ONE had them getting past Boston in first round. |

The Pens would have tried to out “just play” and “speed game” those teams and would have failed miserably because they aren’t equipped to play that way. Tkachuk, Bennett, Gudas, Panthers entire 4th line. They just make the ice an uncomfortable situation for any team, then also have enough skill to back it up. The two teams are yin and Yang. |

hahaha of course you would try to spin it this way. How about the Bruins, then? all the things you said about how good they were all season and a class of their own.
Its mostly Bob, dude. Him and opportunistic scoring. Once again, on the whole of a series, the Panthers were very outplayed in this one. Bob is having one of those postseasons. This year's Panthers and the 2017 Penguins have a lot in common when it comes to how the Panthers winning games are shaking out.
I watched these games, the Canes didnt look uncomfortable at all hahaha
EDIT: Did you see Bennett's hit on Slavin? hahhaa holy moly...I think me and Vic were the only ones on this board who repeatedly said we wanted Bennett for the Pens when he was in the bottom 6 of the Flames |

"That’s the unfortunate part of this, (people are) going to look back and everyone’s going to say you got swept," Brind'Amour said, per The Athletic's Mark Lazerus. "That’s not what happened. I watched the game. I’m there. I’m cutting the game. We’re in the game. ... It could have been four games the other way."
"It didn't feel like a 4-0 series to me," said Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal." |

Disagree with you on Carolina outplaying them. 5v5 HDCF were 62-58. Too much perimeter play by Carolina when they already lack finishing talent. Bob was a big difference but I don’t agree with the idea that he stole the series or anything like that. |

Kinda sounds like you didn't watch the games with comments like that. This is the whole series heat map. So much action and chances right at the net. Bob, once again, was outstanding. I mean, the game 3 shutout was 12-3 HDSC for the Canes and they had a 77.5 xGF Hahaha that's a goalie absolutely robbing the most important game of the series. Wasn't just Bob taking the series, though, very opportunistic scoring too.

From The Athletics mock draft:
"14. Pittsburgh Penguins (Pick by Pronman): Brayden Yager, C, Moose Jaw
Yager adds an excellent combination of compete, speed and scoring ability to the Penguins system. Hopefully he can get there within the next few years to provide a scoring option to the wing of Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin."
Would I be correct to think his name is pronounced like Jagr's? hahaha...or is it Yay-gr instead of Yaa-gr ? |

There was a time those hits were common. The game is so removed from them that now when they happen its a big discussion.
I dont care how soft the NHL gets but you need those big plays to make a difference in hte playoffs. Pens have nobody that can do that on their roster. |

Assuming that its VGK in the final (how could we not assume that at this point) I really, really hope the Panthers get it done. They've been around a long time now, have even made the finals and were swept. I dont want to see a 6 year old team win the cup, no way. |

I agree. I also agree with protecting their brains but at the same time, that hit, when watching it in live time, was f'n awesome and so exciting. Then the Canes ended up with the penalty for retaliating on Bennett. Can't totally remove that sh!t from the game, its more entertaining than a lot of goals that are scored. |

I think hte Pens should either go all in now or start the rebuild. There really is no in-between.
Id rather see the big 3 make a run somewhere else than maybe make a 1st round exit. |

I really dont follow the rest of the NHL anymore and not even that closely to hte Pens but looking at FLA's roster. Only 2 players over 30 and neither take up any cap space....IDK seems like a smarter formula to me. Pens only have 2 Forwards locked up next year under 30 LOL!
Not saying Crosby or Malkin suck but an 82 game season is such a grind, even a mid 20 yr old is cooked by April. Having so much of hte supporting cast at 30+ is just stupid. If Hex was really trying to rebuild WTF was he doing signing Rust and Rakell to long term deals? Rakell yes but not both.
Then there's the D LOl!!!! |

His moves were to tank. He was going to let Geno walk and have Carter play 2C. He traded younger Dmen to acquire Petry. He acquired the corpose of Mikael Granlund.
Signing Rakell and Rust (And Geno and Letang) were directives from new management because they wanted to compete. He was hired to rebuild the team around Sid from prior ownership. He had the script flipped on him in an instant when FSG took over and had to "alter" his plan to appeal to the new bosses.

But he easily could have tanked by trading assets and letting Baby Pens play. Trading away youth for old vets locked up long term? Yeah you're gonna tank and tank for a long time. |
