AS the President of an NHL team, please help me understand what are normal business hours. Do you think a President of a sports team is on call pretty much 24/7?
Yes an employer can in situations tell you that working another job is not allowed. That is not out of the ordinary. - hello it's me 2050
I’m sorry, didn’t you say you retired young years ago? How exactly do you know if a job can keep an employee from having a second job and could you offer an example if it isn’t out of the norm.

going full corky I see.You think BOA would allow you to work at JP? Think the flyers would allow "jonesy" to work for the Rangers? They have a phrase for that, maybe you can look it up.
What would one being retired have anything to do with the statement that was made?

Oh I’m the slow one? You can’t even type out the full wording of what you’re trying to say, so I know what you’re talking about, so I can give you a proper answer. This is how an adult conversation generally works.

I also don't have an issue with Jones doing games either and will judge later once we see how this all works out. I'm behind a few days on here, but has it been brought up that perhaps Jonesy is fulfilling the commitment that he made to call the games? He's been doing it for years and I'm sure he enjoys what he does. Maybe he is prepping for his Flyers gig during the day for all we know. - Don Nachbaur
There is absolutely no issue with Jonesy finishing up his commitment to his TV gig….if this was September I might think different. Some make it sound like he can only function on one thing….it’s not like there’s not a ton of time between now and the draft, the next big event. I’m sure if there’s something that was pressing then he would have chosen a different path to the one he’s taken.

The fact you do not know what BOA and JP are is rather amusing. Have a blessed night.
Yeah wouldn't it be nice if people actually truly judged by results.
Instead we have prospects that are pre-judged before they play a game depending on an article that was written than they just fit their narrative around what they see or don't see. We have clairvoyant dinosaurs that know how a player, coach, GM or owner is going to do because "the past". If they predict correctly then you get an EkCoin....whoops.
Take that away and this board has nothing to contribute in the comments. - Glak18
This post is delusional. We have a decade of results to judge by. Are you serious?

This is has got to be the dumbest explanation ever! The Flyers and Rangers are in direct competition with one another in the same league. The Flyers aren’t in competition with TNT.
This is a moment to bookmarked because how you even go down this road is jaw droppingly dumb in itself.
Certainly no shortage of work for him to do in his new position. I assume he spends a majority of the day on Zoom meetings with the org preping for the draft/FA, then between the benches in the evenings. Dude has always been a grinder with an enviable hustler attitude.
Definitely prefer he wasn't fulfilling his obligations for the playoffs, but I do not doubt his ability to do the necessary work for PoHO simultaneously. - BenderRodriguez
In any television production including sports broadcast. It isn't just show up five minute before the game and jump between the benches. There are always pre-production meetings and planning that anyone involved needs to be a part of and participate in.
Where is that in his Comcast structured job description? Isn't the hockey side including scouting, personnel etc under the purview of the GM? He is a conduit between Comcast and the GM, and a communication specialist. - Sinisalo4vr
Is that what he is? He's taking over for Bill Barber then. Barber must be wondering why he didn't get the Prez title.
We have a coach who wants to build a team the right way, and we have a GM “who like the coach” wants to do that . Lot of coach references when any hockey is talked lol
Florida showed up hungry again tonight. The big names are putting up points. I never would have thought that this series would end in a sweep. Matter of fact I never would have bet that both series could end up as sweeps but here we are.
Bob is on another planet. Good for him and for Florida

Be careful by saying Carter Hart isn’t a franchise goalie. Maybe he isn’t but did we think Bob was a franchise goalie before we traded him?

No poop Sherlock. I didn't suggest otherwise. - BenderRodriguez
Of course you did. You said he spends the majority of the day in zoom meetings in his capacity as the Flyers POHO, prepping for draft/FA and then is between the benches in the evening.

Yes, that's my take. This is the time that all broadcasters would obviously look forward to all season. Once the season is over that is a whole different story. If Jonesy wasn't a former Flyer, perhaps he'd get more slack.

Sadly for him he isnt in a winning franchise. His talent could have helped teams like his hometown club Edmonton over the hump.

I agree there is more to broadcasting than just showing up for the game, but that still doesn't mean Jonesy isn't prepping for his job with the Flyers. He might end up being terrible but it's a bit premature with the suggestions that he's not taking the job seriously.
