I'm turning into the UPL and Savoie apologist, but what did we expect having a guy play out of position, in the conference finals of the AHL playoffs, against a Hershey team that likes to take runs, in his pro debut?

He played scared, made mistakes and caught the pine within 2 games. Sounds about par for the course IMO.

Worse, I think you're right about chemistry where it could affect things. Also agree those players need an attitude check, but for a guy like Cederqvist who worked his tail off all year, I would get it.

Oh yea, I'm with you man. It's a big step up from WHL to AHL and in a matter of weeks w/ little time to acclimate himself. I'm just saying it's a developmental league and the real purpose of it is to develop players first and win second. Agree with Cederqvist having a gripe.

He may be a big out to left field it seems sometimes but Peters has some pretty good ties and sources with that team.

He likes to nonchalantly drop little nuggets but ya gotta listen for it.

I love the show but every so often both of them say some dumb poop idea and sorry I'm not trading Levi for Hellebuyck, holy (frank). Good on them (him) for standing his ground though.

Joker should be demoted or replaced. And Parayko's contract I think makes him a cheap acquisition.

Are we pissed if he hits the hard decline by the time the Sabres are otherwise dominant?

Its the AHL. Prospects are playing over vets all of the time - that's the way it works. There is no reason that it should change in the playoffs.

For the record, I thought Savoie really showed some good jump in his limited playing time. The bigger problem is that they can't sniff the net.

- Slump Buster

Exactly. That is how the AHL works. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone on the team.

yeah. I think the perception is different when the AHL forces a prospect into the lineup vs the NHL team.

Savoie earned it with his juniors play. But I suspect they knew he'd struggle on the physicality. He made some great plays and talent wise he absolutely belongs, without a doubt. There's no worse time to drop a guy like him in there vs a veteran laden, extremely heavy team like the Bears, in the conference finals.

The dorks blaming the 3 losses on Savoie are obnoxious. Not saying those people are even on this board.

Very weird to me that the Oilers have been trying to trade Pool Party for years, eventually do, and then just decide to buy out Yamamoto with one year left.

Would you rather they experience a championship series or is Savoie that much more important?

Put it another way - having an AHL vet that is never going to sniff our future lineup in the playoff lineup is not a concern for me. And when you couple that fact with the need for speed and skill to get our scoring chances up, its a no-brainer.

If he plays the way the Sabres need by year 4/5 he’ll be a band-aid and allow the Sabres to pull a Tampa/Vegas roster that’s $90 billion over the cap.

The problem is Savoie can't play in the AHL next season, and is only getting a few game sample. It's quite meaningless to play him

Dubas overpaid and protected a losing core, next man up.

I think they should move Marner and Nylander, pending a Matthews extension

it's ~20%+ more pro time than the 9 games he'll be able to get at the NHL level next year. Pretty significant increase if you ask me.
