Last year Calgary would have absolutely traded Tkachuk for Marner straight up! And the Leafs would be in the final right now! Thatās exactly why you never tell your players they are here no matter what! Dubas not being open minded enough to even consider options is a huge failure as a GM. - Bullot
Why do you keep saying that when you know Toronto was on his no trade list? |

Maybe theyāre just waiting for the media to be somewhat less judgemental to do so lol |

Chiarelli gets judged for the bad deals he makes out of desperation and rightly so but he's good at drafting, builds heavy teams, not afraid to trade star players and did have some success. He usually opts for big forwards in the early rounds of the draft, Bouchard and Hamilton being his only 1st round defensemen. |

So hiring him makes it like multiplying two negative numbers together right? |

The Hall and Seguin trades stand out for me. |

He has a Stanley Cup and the experience. I know he got some rap for his dealing and wheelings. But haven't unpacked it, to judge if it just mostly hyperbole from engaged fans. |

Russia cheated back in the day. All the tournaments that were for amateur only they had their pros playing. They got around it by saying they were army members. |

Oh I donāt judge it. Like any GM with a past he has his positives and negatives. If he is the one that gets hired my attitude would honestly be āwelp, letās see how this goesā lol |

I hate to say it but I wouldnāt mind that. As Iāve said I love the teamās talent Iām just starting to think itās simply too similar. |

By most if not all reports, Treliving is the favorite. But he will soon experience that hockey in Calgary is a midget sport compared to Toronto. The pressure and coverage from fans & media is thousands time bigger. |

Itās why I think people who believe Bertuzzi would ever sign for a Canadian team are flat out dreamers.
Heās not going to risk having an employer demanding he get certain levels of medical care when he doesnāt legally need to and doesnāt want to.
I disagree with him, Iām an epileptic that trusts healthcare 100% ffs lol, but heās an American who strongly considers it his right that Canada does not follow. - Dozzer

They failed under him.
His fault? The coaches? The players?
I donāt know, but the team hasnāt been getting it done so itās time for a new GM who is the one to mix up the rest. - Dozzer
Since he pretty much is boss of said players and coach, then yes. His fault.
And I agree.
And I think we should try get a top 3 pick this year, because after putting me through this poop since '84, I want a shiny new toy and more cap room.

Both the US and Canada had the same requirements about needing vaccinations to cross the border and play when Bertuzzi decided to stay at home. |

Congrats to Latvia today on their bronze medal at the IIHF world championship today. If there was ever a nation that deserved a podium finish, it's Latvia! |

I question whether Bertuzzi wants to be in Canada at this point what with the whole vaccination fiasco.
Love the guy but don't know where his head is at this point. |

Because Toronto is their favourite team willing to pay more
Marner wouldnāt have got that deal on an American team. JT was a stud UFA C too who wouldnāt have left the islanders unless it was for his fav team offering enough as well.
That is how the taxation works tho. Hope youāre not doubting that, the NHL doesnāt run the governments. - Dozzer
No I'm saying why dont Marner and JT live elsewhere like Matthews and Willy do and just stay in TO during the season if the tax thing is an issue.
I'm not arguing how taxation works, I'm arguing it's impact on players deciding to sign contracts in Toronto. It clearly isn't an issue, and if we can clearly see it isn't an issue for everyone else who's signed here, why would we assume Matthews is the guy it's an issue for? |

Well, we canāt expect him to be a failure either. Calgary is smaller, but itās close enough where he learned to make himself numb while talking to the media. Lol |
